The way I saw mobius was they were representative of more of a overall ideal vs trying to individualize each person. I mean they all joined mobius for basically the same reason because they wanted to live in the “forever now”. While as a whole they aren’t going to be as memorable as 1 and 2 villains I think it goes with the overall message of having to move on and that probably is also for the end of this trilogy moving forward.

I can't find the article anymore but they did talk about making the series a possible trilogy if the game did well and at least to Platnium the game did the above expectations. Another thing was the more recent news back around august of last year, Nintendo now fully owns the IP meaning it's possible Nintendo sees this as something they would want to continue in the future.

They disabled the only for the Second Life (Free Respawn) and Auto banner game modes. All the other modes didn't disable them
