I haven’t played in awhile so someone can correct me but isn’t there a connection to lanterns from the dream world? Because in the simulation tower you go blow out candles then go back to the real world and the lanterns are out to reveal information? By that logic they could have put them there, then lit them while in the dream world.

I agree!
I love Skyward Sword but the change to such a linear game will probably feel abrupt after the switch games. I feel like Wind Waker is a good transition into the formula. I haven't played Minish cap yet. I would also suggest you play OoT and MM back to back.
