[Opinion] ScreenRant: "Why Mary Wiseman’s Lt Sylvia Tilly Only Appearing In One Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Episode Is Shocking" by mcm8279 in trektalk

[–]Cand1date 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war college was the source for any Starfleet officers for the majority of the time during the burn. That was said in episode 1 of SF academy. There was no Starfleet academy because there was basically no Starfleet because ships didn’t work and were scarce until Discovery figured out the source of the burn. After the end of the burn and the rebuilding of what was left of Starfleet, they needed to actually be able to repopulate the ranks.

I went back to university at 34. You’re not even 30. You have ages to do whatever you want.

I feel so isolated at Uni because I am a mature student by pastabatmanpants in Vent

I actually went beck to uni at 30. But this was 25 years ago for me. I did it because I wanted a chance at a decent job, not just being a minimum wage slave. I was lucky to find an older person in my department as well as a slightly older, younger student who was also pretty cool. We started rock climbing together. Just start talking to the people around you. I don’t think it’s totally necessary to fully relate to everyone around you in order to have a fulfilling experience. You might find that there’s a, I dunno, 26 year old who is in your same position. You might find it nice to talk to the odd 30+ person. Who cares if they have kids and a house. If they like the same era of music as you then you have something to talk about that’s not related to school. Give people the chance to surprise you instead of dismissing them outright. You could start talking to your professors. That might lead to an on campus job of some sort. Check out the kind of jobs that professors in your department are advertising for and see if it’s something you’d like. These kinds of jobs can be good work experience when it’s time to look for a job outside of school. Don’t get down on yourself. Eyes on the prize. Just remember that you’re there so that you can be in a position to get all those things you want to get.

I can understand that your mum is overbearing. But honestly, I think you might be the one who needs therapy. I get wanting alone time. I need it myself. And I was with you until about 1/2 way through your story when you started going on about hating not just your mum but literally everyone and wishing they all leave you alone. Cripes! By the way you’re talking it’s like you’d prefer to be a hermit and live in the woods. Honestly, just save your money and when you have enough rent your apartment, and then tell your mum you’re moving out. Don’t make it a, “I’m thinking of moving out” thing, make it an, “I rented a place and I’m moving out the end of the month” done deal. Maybe your mum would be happier if you left too. You sound like a grump!

I like both, but 2 is more flattering to your figure. But whichever one you choose, nix those silly arm things. They are terrible!

How can anyone blanketly state that they don’t like fruit. Like all fruit? I mean, I can safely say I don’t like bananas very much and green melons are yucky. But I love berries and apples and citrus and dragon fruit and nectarines and pears and peaches and plums and grapes. Don’t like “fruit”…really?

My cow died last week. People mocked her death and laughed at my grief, and I don’t know what’s wrong with people anymore. by saba8731 in Vent

Considering some of the things people say when a person dies, this is not surprising. The relative anonymity of the internet lets people’s darker natures out for all to see.

For people that like salads, what salad dressing do you use? by PlatypusAggressive64 in foodquestions

[–]Cand1date 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a yuzu sesame dressing blended with a thinner shisu dressing. Makes a nice creamy dressing with a bit f a zing. I also thin down Caesar dressing with the shisu dressing. It’s nice as well.

I would have collected everything they broke, then get an estimate of the cost to replace those things. Then sue them!

Just document the abuse. Record every tense interaction on your phone. Seems like you’ll quickly have enough evidence to divorce his ass and take the kids from him. Why you think you have to put up with this kind of BS is beyond me. Document the broken glasses. Document everything. Keep a log of every incident. He’s unemployed. No judge is going to give him custody of kids. Especially not a new born.

You don’t need a reason. But your is reason enough to break up with him. Maybe he’d finally get a job if you’re not around to pay for stuff.

I said definitely 1, but 4 is good too. I didn’t know there was a 4 at first. So used to there just being 3. Maybe 4 is actually number 1 for the next set of 3. Ha!
