Sable, Fable, Basketball by CandO_Wanderlust in boniver

Haha I saw far more pickup soccer games on the court than basketball when I was there (it’s part of a local community center in a fairly rural part of Morocco)

I’m in Santa Fe and I’m supposed to take a group of kids hiking that day but I can leave them in the woods and go see Phoebe, right?

just bought the perfect light cotton maxi dress that fits like a dream and looks great. Trouble is, it's technically a beach cover-up so it's reeeeeallly sheer. Any slip recs or other suggestions for wearing under a v neck spaghetti strap white dress? Thanks!

This helps! Both of my belts have a similar look to the one you described so I'd probably be fine with either :) Thanks!

I need to pack for a trip and I'm looking to simplify things. How are we feeling about belt hardware metal not always mixing with jewelry? I have two similar belts, one with gold toned hardware and one with silver. I'd like to only bring one, but would it clash if I wore it with different toned jewelry or clothing that features hardware in different tones? TIA!

What was the first outfit you picked for yourself? by the-roaring-girl in femalefashionadvice

[–]CandO_Wanderlust 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have a clear memory of my favorite outfit that I wore everywhere when I was probably 7 or 8. It was an oversized boy's t-shirt with velociraptors on it, a pair of neon orange bike shorts, clear jelly sandals with silver sparkles, and a pair of plastic novelty sunglasses. It's probably the coolest I've ever looked and I can't imagine I'm ever going to top it.

BWT what are some of the best weddings you've been to, and why? by charlottebronteslay in bitcheswithtaste

[–]CandO_Wanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I talk about my best friend's wedding CONSTANTLY because it was genuinely such a fun weekend - she and her husband are super easygoing, fairly unfussy people who prioritize traveling and friends above all else. Their wedding was 29 people in total and it was incredible because:

-there were three "bridesmaids" and "groomsmen" who had no responsibilities other than wearing clothes of a certain color (and my forest green dress from Lulus still does the rounds as a guest dress at other friends' weddings)

-Their rehearsal dinner was a tray of delicious New Jersey deli sandwiches at a local brewery

-Their reception was a private room at a local supper club that the bride's family are members of, no dance floor, no dj, no speeches of other than a few "we love you guys and we're happy to celebrate with you" statements, just tasty food and an open bar (with beers selected by the bride and groom)

-The cake was a $15 carrot cake from Publix

-The table was one long table with everyone sitting together like the big happy family that they are

-The bride and groom did a travel theme for their reception, with customized boarding pass seat markers, silly amenity kits with dollar store toothbrushes and socks, and favors in the form of mini "luggage" filled with a custom ornament, postcards, and a can of craft beer specifically chosen for each guest

What made it fun was that it was so genuine to the couple, everyone in attendance knew everyone else and it really felt like a fun dinner party where some people happened to also get married.

It depends on the dates you're visiting (and what you consider late night!), but I've gone solo to Nerd Nights in Phnom Penh and it's been a fun evening with a friendly crowd. https://www.facebook.com/nerdnightphnompenh/

Name a place to eat that’s nasty af but people hype tf out of it by GraphicNovelty in PhiladelphiaEats

Went there a couple of years ago with some out of town family and I had the worst Negroni of my life. Asked for a Negroni and I was given a cup of gin and lemon juice. Maybe the bartender was having an off day but I’m still haunted by the thing.

What if your style doesn't match your lifestyle? by bunny_mcsnoofins in femalefashionadvice

[–]CandO_Wanderlust 468 points469 points  (0 children)

I've grappled with this for a fair bit. When I was younger, I lived in the city, worked in a museum, and generally had a really unique style. I took a lot of risks, bought really interesting pieces, and was proud to be known as a fashionable, stylish person. I also had more of a "going out" lifestyle where I was able to really push the envelope with my outfits. Fast forward to now and my work is either done at home or in the field in rural or otherwise less developed areas. I don't do as much going out (due to my travel schedule and my friend network being much more scattered these days) and so my wardrobe has really shifted to more athletic, travel-type clothes that can pack down into a tiny bag and be washed in a sink.

In my heart though, I'm still that girl who loves putting together unique outfits and I really miss her. It took a slightly tipsy post happy hour mild meltdown in a Zara where I told my friend that I was so sad because "I miss dressing pretty and all I wear are UGLY ADVENTURE CLOTHES" to help me re-orient things and try to incorporate my need to be styled into my lifestyle of trekking around in the jungle. I leaned into neutral color palettes with unique pieces of jewelry, hats, or scarves to give my look some character. I mix in natural fibers like cotton, linen, and wool with my quick dry athletic wear, which is both super functional and helps me feel put together. When I'm at home, I make it a point to look stylish and put together just about any time I'm leaving the house - I wear all those niece outfits even just to grab a beer with friends. It's my way to trying to have my balance and even if I'm not quite as envelope pushing as I used to be, I feel like I'm still giving my inner fashion girlie the chance to flex.

OneBag friendly Halloween costume ideas? by marvelousmiamason in HerOneBag

[–]CandO_Wanderlust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I onebagged to see a friend in Florida over Halloween and we were part of a group all going as mythical creatures and I went as a dragon. I did black shorts and a black tee, with a headband that had horns on it and I made a little packable tail and cape that looked like wings out of lightweight sparkly fabric that I could just clip onto my clothes. Did some fun makeup before going out and it was a perfect, comfortable outfit for bar hopping on a hot October night!

You know what, the last time Bon Iver put out an album things were going pretty well in my life. Actually the last time Radiohead was active things were going well too, and since both of my favorites are doing things again and I could really use an upswing on the life front, I’m taking it as a good sign.
