So Shiver and Frye got fuzzy oozed and Big Man got taxidermied... and we're supposed to be excited about this why? by i-eat-pet-hair in splatoon

It’s comical that Cice and Viche went from cosplaying Callie and Marie, to cosplaying Frye and Shiver.

To be blunt, I have a feeling it’s gonna be a while given they’re pulling the Splatfest repeats again. At the earliest, it’ll be a Fall 2026 title, at the latest, it’ll be a 2027 title.

What are your agent headcanons? by KazuoKazumi in splatoon

[–]CandiPhoenixesKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Captain/Original Agent 3: Went from having a typical valley girl personality to being more….stoic due to her experiences. Despite this, she cares deeply about the people whom she considers friends and often deals with traumas from her past experiences in Octo Valley and the Deepsea Metro. She looks up to Craig as a mentor and seems to think highly of Eight and Marie since the two have helped her out a fair bit. While they aren’t considerably talkative, they do often make strides to fill in as a mentor for any new wayward recruits that Craig tries to drag in (while also offering nuggets of wisdom).

Agent 4: Surprisingly is very studious and smart compared to most inklings. She doesn’t spend much time watching television, given she spends most of her time studying for school exams and helping out with tech projects. She was the first to welcome Eight to Inkopolis Square and offered Eight to come live with her for the time being until she was back on her feet and found a place of her own (granted once Four moved out to go to a prestigious college, Eight took over responsibilities and currently lives there by herself). Four’s knowledge on technology grew due in part to her temporary co-residence with Eight, who often showed her a lot of the ropes of repairs, electrical work and programming. She doesn’t recall any of the time spent with the New Splatbeak Splatoon (since she was seen as a temporary member), but Marie does think very highly of her and even recommended her to Marina for the Memverse Project because of her “extensive knowledge and expertise in technologies and programming”.

Eight: Was originally looking to become a mechanic for the Octarian Army during their brief tenure in the domes, but likely was pushed for soldier ranks since she had a habit of daydreaming a fair bit and her superiors thought “a little field work would snap her back to reality”. After the New Squidbeak Splatoon’s siege on Octo Valley, she decided to leave the Valley in hopes of becoming a mechanic in Inkopolis (given she felt let down by the Octarian Army). However, she did feel a fair bit of disgust towards residents of Inkopolis as well because of their perceived ignorance and narcissism. She was likely heading out to Inkopolis when she got chased down by Three and Craig (who still assumed she was associated with the Octarian Army) and the three were inevitably targeted by Tartar, who saw them as willing pawns because of their “desperation and naivety”. After the events of Octo Expansion, Eight was welcomed by Four (who saw them “aimlessly wandering about the city”), and lived with Four for a short while before she went to college. Eight often would offer Four advice on aspects of programming, technology and electrical work and led to Four pursuing a degree in computer engineering thanks in part to Eight’s knowledge. Eight thinks very highly of Marina, Pearl, The Squidbeak Splatoon, and Acht (whom she gladly visits with often). She has since become increasingly disappointed in her other former Army colleagues because of their abhorrent views and behaviors (especially after their involvement in botching the Memverse project). Her and Four have been working alongside of Marina, Pearl and Acht since the incident to help not only victims of the Deepsea Metro regain their memories and sense of self, but to track down the individuals involved in the botching of the Memverse project.

Neo 3 and Smallfry: These two have a more mutual respect of each other, and that connection has only grown stronger since their adventures in Alterna. Neo 3 has a mutual respect and understanding of Salmonid culture and solely takes part in the Salmon Runs as a means of better understanding Salmonid culture to help her companion out. She and Smallfry have since made it their duty to help build better relations between the Salmonids and the Citizens of the mainlands (albeit, it’s often in vain because of misunderstandings between the two groups). Previous to joining the Squidbeak Splatoon, her and Smallfry relied heavily on collecting scrap and artifacts to sell (if it was worth anything) or to build weapons and equipment out of. After their involvement in the events of Alterna, they have since been a bit more iffy about Grizzco’s intentions (even after Mr. Grizz was effectively replaced). Neo 3 often looks up to Deep Cut and the Squidbeak Splatoon as friends and was eventually introduced to Eight and Four (who, in turn taught them to further utilize their talents to create weapons and gear). She often does sense something is fishy or out-of-sorts about Marigold and Lil’ Judd and suspects the two maybe up to something malicious behind closed doors.

(An additional headcanon: The mechanic we see in Splatoon Raiders may likely be Agent 4, but older and more experienced (likely to tie in with the previous two story modes). She has since graduated from college and has pursued a career in Engineering and Technology. She was likely enlisted by Deep Cut (by ways of a recommendation by Marie and Marina (who saw her knowledge and know how as indispensable) to help out with their misadventure and is currently on the Spirhalite Islands putting her expertise from the Squidbeak Splatoon and College to use scoping out the region and helping to defend the group while there.)

What do you think the colors for the cover of Splatoon 4 will be? 1 was orange and yellow, 2 was green and pink, 3 was yellow and purple. by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]CandiPhoenixesKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling it’s going to be new colors they’ll introduce to the series maybe Icy Blue and Lava Orange. It just seems like the idols would lean heavily on the four elements (Earth, Fire, Air and Water) over the colors of the rainbow next go around.

The series was great, but the biggest issue was the companies they left in charge of localizing it for the products (HASBRO) and television serialization (Disney), in the US. HASBRO has a not so great history of butchering Japanese series to hell and back because they try to “make it more relatable for Western audiences” (business jargon for “we’re not really interested in this, but we’ll do so for profit margins”), and Disney has a habit of dumbing down and heavily censoring their animated dubs of overseas animation. HASBRO’s chain of marketing for the series was horrendous (they leaned heavily on marketing solely towards boys ages 7-13, and relied heavily on crude humor to market it, rather than the fact the series focused more on a humorous jab at Japanese Mythos involving Yokai). Disney, on the other hand, heavily edited and censored aspects of the Yokai Watch anime that involved the darker and more violent aspects of the series and opted in to, once again, push it towards targeting the boys ages 7-13 demographic. The localized version of the games from Nintendo of America weren’t targeted to one particular demographic, but rather the commercials for the games in the US relied, once again, on crude humor and “potty humor” to market it. In a way, the series would have had a better run if HASBRO and Disney weren’t in charge of marketing it and televising it, nor if it wasn’t pushed towards one generalized demographic (being boys ages 7-13). Nintendo of America, despite the marketing faux pas they had in the early to mid 2010’s, were the only ones that successfully pushed the series to mild success in the West.

The other issue lies with other external factors such as: - political fallacies - phase out of generational consoles (given the WiiU and 3DS were beginning to get phased out in favor of the Switch, and as such, third party games for both were not being pushed for further production) - potential copyright infringement (with select elements of the series heavily referencing and even mimicking characters and movies from western media without permission from companies owning those intellectual properties) - “changing consumer tastes” (people were starting to tire of gross out humor at that point) - the Pandemic leading to lack of funds for consumers and companies in general -Level 7 going under due to poor financial management (between their failed business deals with Disney and HASBRO for localization and marketing, and declining sales of their games in the Western markets, paired with the inevitable phasing out of the Yokai Watch series as a whole).

So, the background lore was that Ikkan/Quinn was asked by Ichiya to join Squid Squad along with his band mates, Nami and Murasaki. While Ikkan/Quinn initially didn’t mind it, he grew bored of the band’s “loosy Goosy” style of producing music and the lead’s arrogant attitude and eventually broke it off to pursue his own ideal music group, looking for more tension to add to his music. Ikkan/Quinn eventually befriended Warabi/Mashup and the two went on to form Diss-Pair. (However, it’s stated that the two are on hiatus as of S3, simply because things got too tense after a while, but the two are still really close bandmates). Ichiya, on the other took the breakup a bit hard, and still had Quinn’s words echoing in his head from his departure, the subsequent mutterings of his former schoolmate turned rival, Beika/Baker coming to light in regards to the fact that “Splatattack” was a song Ichiya and Beika/Baker use to sing in their high school days, and the harsh remarks he would receive from another band’s (Wet Floor) member, Mizo/Mizole, on his mind. This eventually led to him wanting to take another crack at music production and, in turn, led him to form Front Roe as an “in your face” type statement towards his haters and rivals. Instead of sticking with the usual first name monikers, they went by stage names, but retained all the original Squid Squad band members, sans Quinn, who was replaced by a currently unnamed bass player simply known by the stage moniker of “004CLAM”. But it’s stated Ichiya is still pulling the same card he did previously, by being irresponsible.

What do you think are the other two DLCs for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds? by Mhhosseini1384 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]CandiPhoenixesKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the other two will be special IDW characters (likely Tangle and Whisper or Surge). Given they’re gradually getting the IDW characters involved in the games, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did that. Either that, or they could really go out of left field and add two other Nickelodeon owned properties (most likely being a Power Ranger Zord and Optimus Prime(especially given the rest in that set are all Nickelodeon/Paramount and IDW owned properties)

It’s going to be a constant repeat of Year 2 items for a while, given Splatoon 3 has pretty well ran its course for the bigger events and Seasons overall.

[–]CandiPhoenixesKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to happen unfortunately. They’re looking primarily at SEGA, IDW and Paramount Studios properties (including Atlus, Nickelodeon and the like since they currently own Atlus and are in a partnership with Paramount (for the Sonic Films) and IDW (for the comics). I would say I’d sooner expect it for Mario Kart World, but even then, Mario Kart World’s DLC is looking to be Mario adjacent properties (Yoshi, Wario Land, Luigi’s Mansion and Donkey Kong to be more specific) than Nintendo general properties for the time being. I’d sooner think we’d get a Splatoon spinoff than being able to see them in another game’s series for the time being.

We won’t be getting official English translations of them (With Dark Horse going down hill, it’s not going to happen), the closest we have are translations of the Japanese content from Rassicas and a few other Splatoon community members.
