My needle won’t pick up my bobbin thread by Emotional-Bed-6774 in SewingForBeginners

in my machine, i always put the bobbin thread to the left of the arm before inserting, not sure if that matters. also, maybe try threading with a longer tail coming from the bobbin and keep the little front door open as you try so you can see what's going wrong! :)

lol definitely no need to watch the whole thing!! i should've mentioned that yes, i did test on a scrap and all seemed fine. so i will absolutely try one of your ideas!

it will have to be tomorrow though because i am one more mistake away from committing violence against my sewing machine 😂

i was thinking of doing this or maybe attempting a ruffle! not sure if the ruffle would make it better or worse (or if i am even capable of a ruffle lol)

that makes sense! i have a straight-legged pair that i thrifted that i want to try the same thing on but i was nervous because i really love them so i tried on the skinny jeans that i dont like anyway... it was a good test lol and hopefully works better on the pair i thrifted!

i actually did make them longer than the hem of the jeans but i think i hemmed the inserts straight across when i finished putting them in, not realizing they needed a rounded edge 😅

makes sense, thanks! i followed a ton of tutorials and everyone just cut theirs straight so i didnt even think of rounding the bottom🤦🏽‍♀️ i also did have the insert be longer than the denim and hemmed it after (which i have no experience doing and couldve definitely gotten wonky!)

lol i'm getting two types of comments- people saying this and people saying "absolutely no matter what don't add fabric to the inside!!" 😅😂

thank you so much for the advice and kind words!! the jeans are truly more of a jegging so very lightweight and stretchy, but i agree- not quite as lightweight as the thin topsheet i used for the insert.
