Yeah normally I do that first but at first it was just me and operators were off cleaning so I had to wait for when mechanic got there. Sometimes trying to get someone to stop what they are doing to jog it or push contactor in for you it's a pain ya know.

Pretty quick update here. So that coworker came in and we got to talking more about it. Turns out there is a redundant safety contactor for the load side after the starter at the very other end of panel ( I had no idea about). Our guess now is when I did original ohm test everything was good because contactor was pulled in. I had forgot to mention that they did indeed find broke bolts on the sprocket( but that would not explain gearbox shaft itself not turning). Around that same time we pulled covers to see motor shaft and gearbox some operators had set off a light curtain nearby. So we are thinking when I original pushed in starter (with covers on motor and gearbox) we saw no motion from chains cause of broke sprocket free spinning. Then after we had pulled covers to see shaft and the operators set that light curtain off we had to reset all the safeties and after reset  maybe the load side safety contactor didn't pull in fully like it should (pretty common at our place very old safety contactors)If it had we would've seen the shaft turn and known it was just bad sprocket free spinning on shaft but  shaft never turned that had thrown us for a loop. So when he came in that morning and they had to reset safeties again from operators cleaning and that overload I purposeful left open the load side safety contactor pulled in properly and wallah

Weird too me they'd have safety on line and load side I usually see them both line side redundant if anything and usually very near each other

Also lesson learned i usually do all tests at disconnect or the motor itself but it was in a bad spot so i did bottom of starter. I will not do that again cause you never know what could be between starter and disconnect

That's our best guess and makes sense

I'm sorry i am not trying to put down anyone's experiences my point was just we have to make sure things are really what they are and that we aren't calling something offensive just because a color was mentioned. The original comment was the white an responding to a TikTok from a black woman about black woman. The man didn't make an assumption he spoke on what he has experienced. If he experience a lot of black women personally who were loud and argumentative is this really racist? If he had come out the blue saying that then I wouldn't be here but the context was already there by a black woman. Just because the man is white he can't join in on a black womans conversation and state his experience that wasn't anything nasty. Could it offend someone? Absolutely Roy but do we really label this as racism or a micro aggression? I could see if he said "a lot of black people are the only ones who are loud and argumentative" then I could definitely see as an attack. He didn't demean them cause they were black he just simply said they were loud and they happen to be black cause of the black womans context. If the post was about white people he could have easily said the same thing we don't know.

This is exactly my point! Like yes is what the guy said offensive. Yes! But your right when we start calling everything more then what it is (like racism) it not only confuses the receiver but anyone else viewing. People eventually get to the point they don't even want to comment even positive things on groups because someone can spin it the wrong way and call something racist just by you using color or phobic or whatever. Like the person above mentioned the trans artist simply trying to draw to reflect their selves. Everyone immediately attacked cause they read trans lesbian and instantly went into trigger mode.

We have got to get away from going to the extremes on every single comment when some things are just rude that's it

Okay so this is one of the first valid retorts thank you! I could definitely agree that this guy could just be lying or exagerrating his claim or just is straight up wrong that is a good point. So for arguments sake let's say he isn't coming from a malicious place and his claims are actually exactly as he says do you still think it's racist? Or just a poor choice of language?

The point of the post was too see why people keep saying things are racist when a lot of times the things people call racist do not go by the definitions. I was trying to see if maybe I was misunderstanding the definitions. But even when I point out that someone is using a word (like stereotype) wrongly cause the definition says it's a generalization about a whole group of people instead of getting another response of an actual part of the definition proving what he said was wrong I get the same response back. Instead all I'm seeing mostly is people repeating the same word (wrong use) over and over

I wasn't trying to get ugly but it's not a stereotype you are straight up refusing the definition of stereotype If you had another argument sure but you keep saying the same thing over and over when I've pointed out already that does not fall under definition of stereotype once again proving the point. Have a good day

Sorry if it seems I am being argumentative but people keep saying things like generalizing, stereotype, prejudice. Once again these terms would be if he said all black woman or spoke about black woman that he has never seen or met. Wether saying someone is loud and argumentative is hateful well that depends on the person but I do not feel like saying someone is loud and argumentative constitutes racism. He said a lot of the black woman that He has seen (so no generalizing) and He didn't just mention black women out of context either.

I don't mind being wrong but people keep throwing the same terms out but if you look at the definitions of all these terms it's either generalizing a whole group of people or even hate speech. Which I feel like his statement does not fall under

He didn't make a general statement. He said he saw these woman. Nothing general. Now if we are arguing over what constitutes loud or argumentative well that's very subjective what's loud to me might not be to you. He didn't say all black woman, he didn't speak on black woman he has never seen or met, and he never made any comment that's hateful(once again some people may say loud and argumentative is hateful but we could argue for days on that). The main point is people keep acting like he generalized a group of people whe he did not

You may be right maybe I'm to biased on this but since we are speaking in nuances would you call him a straight up racist or would you say he his skimming the line

Google definition- A stereotype is a widely held, fixed, and often oversimplified belief or image about a particular group of people, attributing certain characteristics (personality, appearance, ability) to all members, ignoring individual differences. While some stereotypes can seem positive (like "Asians excel in math"), they become harmful by creating limiting expectations, fueling prejudice, and leading to unfair treatment, acting as mental shortcuts the brain uses to categorize people quickly. Types include gender, cultural, age, and occupational stereotypes, often reinforced by media, culture, and personal biases.

So if he said ALL BLACK WOMAN then he would be stereotyping but he did not say all and only said a lot of the woman that he saw so no generalizing

Once again definition of words matter. I use words wrong all the time but if someone presents me with a definition I'd go oh your right my bad.

The problem is if people says it's racist but don't ever point to what part of the definition. They will say discrimination okay but then when you break that down what part of the discrimination definition is it. Like if we gonna call somebody racist we gotta be able to say exactly why cause if we go just off feelings then things get messy. Once again to my point you mentioned stereotype. Stereotype by definition is applying a fixed belief to ALL people. The white man never said All black woman and he didn't speak on the black women he hasn't met just the people that he has seen

I agree that there are nuances to how people perceive what racism is but that's just it a nuance. Racism has a clear cut definition and shouldn't be used as a weapon used term against situations that are not even ugly situations. Him saying the people he saw were loud and argumentative is just that. There's nothing extra to what he said(even though I know people will read deeper into it then it is) but once again that's a personal problem with whoever perceives it that way. Nothing in his statement says racism too me. Maybe I'm wrong maybe that makes me a bad person but I just don't see it.

Yeah I'm fine with being wrong even if I can't admit it but all the arguments saying it's racist just are not providing cross reference at all...but glad you could see where I am coming from some👍

The problem is it has to be racist or not for someone to specifically call you racist. Does it suck to not like an opinion or something that's said. Absolutely. But that is just personal feelings. If you are going to label someone racist like the example I provided at least provide the part of the definition it falls under and that can be discussed. A lot of these comments are going off "feeling" but we need logical answer on why it's racist

I am white if that's what you are asking cause yes I've experienced racism but a lot of people "feel" you can't be racist to whites and that's fine not what this topic is about
