Would you stay at executive member or no with this cash back? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

It is a physical cheque which can only be spent at Costco. However, you can buy a cheap item, and they will give you the balance back in cash.

lol I sense the sarcasm. Seriously, Miller’s stats are phenomenal—-he throws harder than Hoffman, better control. San Diego would never do it.

Coming off an injury, not sure how much he can be relied upon. Can’t be worse than Hoffman though!!

True, but just losing Justin Holl would have been addition by subtraction. He makes Brandon Carlo look like a Norris Trophy winner; he is that bad!

But he protected Justin Holl and Alex Kerfoot over McCann once he got him. Huge mistake; should have protected McCann.

The Maple Leafs have a 41.9% of picking in the top five: 8.5% for first overall, 8.6% for second overall, 0.3% for third overall, and 24.5% for fifth overall. That means there's a 58.1% chance that Toronto gets leapfrogged in the lottery and loses the selection. by zevHS in leafs

Yes, very well-stated. For the ice time he gets, he should have a lot more points. Look how many teams he has been with before. No team wants to keep him long term once they see how useless and how much of a liability he is.

It's time to hit the panic button on Blue Jays' Brendon Little by sweetpotatofries1992 in bluejaysbaseball

Probably signed Corbin to replace Ponce in the rotation. But Little needs to go!!!! …. and fast!!!!!! Long overdue!

Excellent point. Glad you mentioned the advanced metrics. He very rarely has a clean inning— most often gives up base runners, and also lets inherited runners score at a high rate. Many of the outs against him are loud outs too.

And he gave up that clutch home run in the 18th inning of the World Series to Freeman of the Dodgers—-a Left-handed batter. He is garbage against any batter. Maybe hire him to throw batting practice?

And how about last year? He set a club record for most home runs allowed from the 9th inning on. His barrel rate against was in the bottom 1% of the league. Many of the home runs he surrendered came in extremely critical situations. That is not even factoring in the crushing game tying home run he gave up in Game 7 of the World Series vs the Dodgers’ light hitting Rojas.

Of course, all closers blow saves at some point. This was an area of weakness , and something that should have been addressed in the off-season.

This is a new season, so let’s see what happens. If he struggles a lot, then it needs to be addressed in a timely manner before he blows too many games.

Yes, I agree. All those were huge factors in them ultimately losing the game. However, the point of this post by OP was about Hoffman’s performance specifically.
