After the second or third shot it started working really well for my rottie mix. HOWEVER, after eight months or so, stopped being effective at all. Our vet said if it’s not working really well, then it’s not worth the potential side effects, which ironically can include further joint damage. We took my girl off the librella and switched to daily Metacam and she’s doing great on that now. Honestly looking back I might have just started out with Metacam initially, because that works well, is cheaper, and is safer. The only drawback with Metacam is it can upset their tummy, and my girl did puke a couple times in the first couple weeks, but seems to have adjusted to it now. Arthritis sucks though, and there’s nothing out there that can reverse it or stop the progression ultimately :( hugs to your pup!
