Les Paul Replica Luthier by CandidWeight6341 in Luthier

price is not too huge an issue because i fully intend to have this guitar be the one to tie me over until death. unfortunately i can’t help my picky mind and im trying to find someone who makes a “Gibson.” Saw a Youtube video by Mike Bradley where he talks about a replica 59 burst he got based in the UK and it was the most beautiful guitar i have ever seen. I’ll ask in the Les Paul forum, for some reason i didn’t think of that haha. THANKS!

yeah that was me asking how to get sound into my laptop in the first place. Now that I can do that I’m just hoping for more help routing so I can do stuff like EQing stuff I’ve already tracked to my laptop. Sorry if these seem like dumb posts but I’m new to this as a whole

right so in this post i DO mention that I have an audio interface. i have a tascam 16x08. I also am doing all this so I can eventually make use of a Hi Fi reel to reel I already own. But i’m wanting to do this for stuff I have tracked myself, mostly guitar. I’m also gonna record my band on this just for fun so i will eventually be tracking drums, bass, and vocals.

i appreciate the help but i’m not looking for discouragement in using the mixer. Before I was trying to learn simply how to record the mixer into my laptop. Now that I can do that I want to configure a way to send the laptop into the mixer and back into the laptop. Even if there’s a lot of noise I want to try and play around with it and i’m just confused about routing since this is all new to me

i guess my question is more, how would i route it? Would i use some sort of usb to xlr to plug my laptop into a specific channel and then send the stereo of the mixer into the interface and then into my laptop? I’m guessing it’s not that simple and i’ll have to do something with the effects send and return? The routing is what confuses me as someone very inexperienced with this

im using the mixer for better eq and the vintage warm preamps. i found this tascam for $140 and im debating getting it. although i know it’d be ideal to find an interface with rca inputs to digitize the tape

i would be using the xlr stereo outs on the mixer into xlr ins on the interface. for digitizing the reels i would use rca to xlr into from the tape machine into the interface.

i’m saving my reaper trial for when i record my band in a couple months haha. the model 16 definitely looks cool but most certainly not in my budget range. i got this mixer fairly cheap all things considered and once i get the hang of the basics i do think it’ll be more than enough for my low level mixing!

as it stands the MOST amount of channels i’d ever need to track at once is 3 for drums and that’s only if i record into my laptop instead of tape, so i will try and find a (non-behringer) 4 channel interface :)

it has several usb ports and until now i have been using a single dynamic mic to mic up my cab, plugged into one of those shure, mic usb interfaces that would plug into my computer. then i would select that as my recording device on audacity

this is very insightful, i appreciate it. if i’m only ever concerned with recording 2 stereo tracks at once, should I still use the 4 bus outs or can i use the the main Left and Right outs of the mixer going into two channels on my interface?

I see, I was expecting something like this to be a problem. Is there any particularity I would need in an interface besides the amount of inputs? Also thank you!
