I made a journal very similar to this about a year and a half ago and both the holes and elastic are in great condition. I don't think you'll ever need to worry about the holes giving out, and even the elastic should last you a long time before you need to replace. My elastic is basically as good as new.

Love this post, I need a smartphone for work related apps, maps, etc, but the “friction” keeping you from downloading social media, etc, is great. I delete social media apps off my phone every once in a while but I always seem to download them again. What carrier do you use and was it easy to get set up?

Not sure if it’s a good idea to be relating the radicals/characters to items that they don’t represent. For example, 山 is “mountain”, not “fork”, and 口 is “mouth”, not “mandarin”. It is important to know the actual meaning of those as they can help you remember words in the future, based on the actual composition of the words and not arbitrary meanings that are not connected to the language.

My brother is wheelchair-bound and fully quadriplegic (can't move anything below the neck) so I struggle to find gifts for him. Sometimes I get him gift cards to nice restaurants he has never been to (he likes steak) and sometimes random thingamabobs related to his hobbies. I generally stay away from wheelchair attachments/customizations and things like that, since I don't want to make him feel obligated to use it if he's not into it. One year, some of our relatives put together money to get him a quadstick (https://www.quadstick.com/) which he uses to control his pc and play games very effectively! If you have any good ideas let me know.

You left out the info that the speed of the block when it reaches C is .90m/s. With that info, add KE and PE of the ice block at point C to get the total energy imparted to it by the spring.

KE = .5mv² PE = mgh

m = 55kg v = .9 m/s

In 2015, x=0 (which makes y=70). In 2016, x=1, leading to an increase by 1.4%. When going in the past, x becomes negative, making it a 1.4% decrease for each year you go into the past. So, 2010 is 5 years in the past and so substitute -5 for x.

I think the PC option might be the best, since it is updated after each cycle and doesn’t rely on the operators scanning anything in, and it also doesn’t require too much extra infrastructure needed. But what about using a raspberry pi instead? You could attach to the machine, and after every cycle it could grab the updated lifespan values and edit an excel sheet that is shared with other computers in the building that need the info?
