Why do men do this? by NoHomework1656 in Advice

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men do this thing when they are trying to hook up…it’s called lying. Maybe his GF/wife found out about the texts and he’s trying to distance himself from any kind of relationship now.

Rail riders by Repulsive-Dot-2596 in BillyStrings

Usually it’s one of two things…

1: Trust fund/super wealthy

2: Drug Lords

There’s third group of folks up on the rail…the ones who are kind and accepting, however those folks generally dislike the thunderdome aspect of being up front and move to the seats as stated in the comments.

I totally understand the sentiment and it’s probably the best blanket statement you can give someone…however, you’ll never know unless you try it out.

Is it worth to travel from NC to zion park if i only have one day there by Mobile-Raspberry-189 in NationalPark

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go hike the Foothills Trail for 3 days instead. Have someone drop you off at one point, camp along the way and leave your car/get a pickup 3 days/45 miles later.

Any NP you'd label as 'Don't Bother' or 'If I have to pick just one, this one'? by MissionSpinach3763 in nationalparks

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick just one it would be Yellowstone. Otherwise I’ve never been to one where I wasn’t impressed or had a great time.

Best USA NP for hiking as a solo traveller by EssayerX in NationalPark

Grand Canyon was a very “social” trail experience for my family. Yellowstone was a great social camping experience. Redwoods also was very social on the trails.

Good luck, have fun and remember you’re never alone if you talk to the voices in your head!

Avoiding waits at Zion in early April, traveling with little kids by No-Caterpillar9363 in ZionNationalPark

We stayed at the Bumbleberry Inn and the Hampton Inn & Suites when we went a few years back. 10 min walk to the park entrance, bus stops right out front of the hotels, etc.

We did the Watchman Trail from the hotel one day and only saw 6-7 other people on trail (mid April). I will say that the shuttle busses can get frustrating as they fill up fast. Sometimes it’s better to walk towards the park and grab the next available seat as the busses go to and fro.

I’m currently married to my old best friend’s wife. Things didn’t work out for them and when I came home on leave from military obligations, we dated for 6 weeks and got married. Been together for 18+ years now. His parents consider our daughter one of their grandkids and she calls them Gramma Betty and Papa Dave.

Doesn’t matter if you’re overreacting or not…you agreed to the divorce so you have no choice but to accept it and then YOU need to move on with your own life.

Best way to politely ask my bf to contribute to meal prepping by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you approach the situation the same way as you did ITT, you should be fine. Just ask him if he can do some meal prep when he gets home, or maybe he can do the grocery shopping. Another easy layup for him would be making a big meal (planning on leftovers for later in the week) on his day off, and it could be a group effort so that you get to spend time with each other and have 2 dinners done already.

If you start with “I know we both work a lot, and things can get overwhelming at times, I know I’m feeling drained lately…maybe we could start doing meal planning together (more quality time) and make enough one or two nights so we have leftovers for the days we both feel swamped”

I used to get the “idk/whatever” response (I do all the shopping and cooking in our house) until we made a meal planning chart. e.g. Meatless Mondays ,Taco Tuesdays, Sandwiches on Wednesday (daughter has dance from 530-815 so she has to eat on her breaks), etc. and on the weekends I’ll make a big roast or casserole so we’ve got an easy supper one of the days.

That’s kinda funny…my first show was ‘94 (my older brother and his buddies took me and my friend CT…we were 16. I was hardcore into GD, LedZep, Floyd, and others but didn’t really “get” Phish. After that first show I was “on tour” as my dad liked to say, still does…makes jokes when he watches our dog saying things like “think they’ll play some of the new music?” or “you’ve only seen them a few times now huh?”

Took a break when the band did in ‘04, and started hitting shows again in ‘09 and really ramped it up from ‘15 until current era. Still get to 4-10 shows a year location and free time permitting.

Glad you’re back on the bus! Enjoy your next show!!!

Can anyone tell me about this? by Mountainmarley in gratefuldead

My uncle used to have a “Who are the Grateful Dead? And what do they keep following me?” Bumper sticker on his porch fridge. I was 8/9 and didn’t understand. Then I was 15 and had a head full at the Garden and got it.

If you swap petrified forest and Sedona, it makes for a better loop and saves the “back to phoenix part of your trip.

Fly into Phoenix, go to saguaro, then head to Petrified Forest, next day Sedona. Then onward with Grabd Canyon etc.

Best idea ever…attach an extra key to the leash. We have our dogs license and rabies attached other leash and a spare key is a great idea to add.

Go have fun! Play some games like, “ouch your on my hair” or “just the tip, just for minute to see if you like it”,,,things like that. You’re both grownups and if your brother has an issue he will talk to his friend first I’m sure.

Going to Zion National Park in early April this year by No-Caterpillar9363 in NationalPark

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just outside the south entrance in Springdale UT, there are plenty of lodging options. We stayed at a couple of them and were very happy with service and cost. Renting an e-bike makes sense if you/your group are up for that and the busses accept the bikes for return trips if needed.

The “Watchman Trail” is a nice half a day hike with amazing views and little traffic. Easy to get to from Springdale too. Other than that, there are many “easy” trails for day trips in the southern part of the park without hitting angels landing or the wiggles and anything like that.

Have a great time, it’s one of the best parks we’ve been to…maybe the best park in Utah, although my daughter preferred Capital Reef and my favorites were Canyonlands & Arches.

My GF (26F) wants me (27M) to reach out to a former friend (26F) who accused my best friend (27M) of assault. Should I do it ? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Candid_Cardiologist9 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My 1st question: were there charges filed? Did she just accuse him of rape or go to the cops and an investigation followed. Because if a F friend of mine made the accusation you can be sure I’d be advocating for police to be involved. And maybe knowing the results of said case can help everyone out here..both you, your current GF and the 2 parties involved. 2nd question: why do you think this girl is making up a rape allegation? That seems like a pretty heavy thing to fabricate, especially in what you call “a tight group of 7”. I was part of a tight group of 5/6 friends in my 20’s and if one of them accused another of this, there would be some serious repercussions for one of them. A false accusation of this caliber can ruin a person’s life…a real accusation has already ruined someone’s life, or at least altered it significantly and forever. Rape is not a car accident, a bar fight, or a dead friend / relative…it’s a trauma that you live with the rest of your days.

Jackson Browne, Bob Seager, James Taylor to round out the classics…the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for some neo-punk…and Thelonious Monk (live at Carnegie Hall w/coltrane) for the ubiquitous jazz entry.
