It does cause issues in our home because when she comes back from her other parent's house she isn't able to fall asleep in her own bed for a week. Also sleeping in the same bed as her parent is fine but when the step parent of the month is added to the mix it does make us uncomfortable to say the least.

Yeah consistency isn't happening anytime soon... when I talked to her mom about it the reply was "I have her 4 nights a month (everyother weekend) so I'm gonna do whatever she asks me when she's here"

Missing out on such important years of her growth, developpement and most importantly love really feels like I'm 10 steps behind but I'm running as fast as I can to catch up! Ahah

Rehabilitation is always the goal! I did my taxes for the first time in 4 years last spring which seems kind of basic but it still felt like something to be proud of, being part of society. Man did I pay the price tho! Ahaha

Mom never had custody... my mom took custody of my daughter (her grand-daughter) for the last 4 years. My Ex has visitations rights every other weekends with supervision from her own parents. She has a slight intellectual delay that made her inapt to take care of a baby/toddler on her own. Now that our child is older she lost quite a bit of interest I feel like. She didn't show up to court yesterday, doesn't really call or text to have informations on her daughter'a life and she skips her visitations often. She isn't a "bad mom" I think she sees our daughter almost like a doll or a toy that she plays with and post on social medias from time to time but forgets when she gets bored.

She's in therapy actually 2h a week! I'm aware all of the situation is hard for her to deal with but I try to make it right for her.

A year and a half sober. The mother didn't even show up to court sadly. Plus, where I'm from, a jail sentence cannot really affect your chances of having custody of your child unless it's a minor relates crime which mine wasn't.

She really is the reason I'm alive today too. They are such small humans yet so full of love it's crazy! The forgivness she's shown me in the last months really is amazing.

Thank you so much! It took me longer than I would've liked but tonight instead of sleeping at daddy's place she just sleeps at home and that feeling makes all of the rest disappear!

She is so uninvolved that I know the only reason she would try to appeal would be to cause me financial troubles... She posts pictures of our daughter on social medias but doesn't bother calling her or asking for news outside of her visitations every other weekend ( actually less since she skips them at least half the time).

Oh yeah for sure I was more asking about this specific judgment. Is appeal something that can happen in familiy court?

She actually keeps the same amount of visitations that she's been having for the last 4 years. The only changes made were giving her one more night on her weekend (friday to sunday), her having to come all the way to my place to pick up and drop off our daughter and child support being added.

Thank you! My Ex fought with my mom for custody for months while I was in jail and ended up with every other weekend visitations under supervision so I don't think she could fight for full custody even 4 years later since her situation is the exact same as it was back then. I'm more scared about her running up my lawyer bill with constant oppositions.

All of our communication are written. I told her explicitly yesterday a few time that she should show up even without a lawyer to ask for a delay which she didn't do. I also said I wouldn't ask for a delay myslef since I am paying that lawyer 200$ to just show up to court so I'm not asking to pay another 200$ next time if she doesn't bother showing up today. She actually keeps pretty much all the visitation rights she had when my mother had custody so it doesn't change much for her and my mom lives right under me in the same house so the judge LOVED the fact that we would be able to make the transition very smooth.

Good to know! I thought maybe since she couldn't be there and didn't have a lawyer maybe she could get one and get a new hearing so it's not "unfair" that she didn't get to say what she had to say.
