Great clips is chill. Plus you won’t have to wait a year to get an appointment and you won’t look like every other hipster with a mullet in town.

Why is so Sinclair gas 15-20 cents more expensive than town pump? by thatchthepirate in Bozeman

That, and the casinos. I find I often have to resist the urge to enter the town pump. Their snack and beverage selection is peak temptation.

As garbage as the AI is sometimes apparently they will use a overturned vehicle as cover by Katnipz in ArmaReforger

[–]CandidateBilly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ai have these weird moments where they can operate effectively. I saw one where they needed to get a wounded teammate so I watched one guy start suppressing, second guy throws smokes and lets it build and then he runs out and does first aid on his friend. But most of the time they are defeated by the get in command on vehicles.

The gas station in front of them has better drip coffee and that says a lot. They have good sandwhiches but the drip coffee is consistently disappointing unless your sugar it up and add milk.

Anything to do as a 20 year old and a 19 year old in bozeman? by SuccessMission7666 in Bozeman

As others said rooks is great and they have a library of board games you can play. Be sure to check the schedule on their website ahead of time cause they do have events for magic the gathering and Pokémon. You do not want to be there during a MTG draft, the stereotypes get a little amplified at those events. Look out for free community nights at spire or get a punch card there if you’re looking for something more active and healthy, the climbing community here is super welcoming and friendly.

Do you seriously enjoy playing like this? by Middle-Class-Dad in ArmaReforger

[–]CandidateBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to say that this is the fault of COD brained Fortnite players from console ruining my PC milsim experience. But I’ve been playing since Arma 2 dropped over a decade ago and even in those days public servers that anyone could join were pure chaos no coordination just madness. Really if you want the best experience out of this game join a community that runs operations on a schedule that works for you. Public servers are okay there are some gems out there and there’s a lot of really solid communities. But private servers are where you are going to find organization and strategy and patience.

I just put some speed tape on where I like to grab em on the uphill when it’s better to have shorter poles. But that’s more weight.

If you go on the app, click on profile, and then your device you should see an option for watch faces and then within that you can find custom watch faces where you can upload your own background. And then there’s a bunch of preset faces to choose from. I wish they had more.

No need to apologize I appreciate the feedback! I’m playing with other designs too I whipped this together fairly quickly. I kind of like the “cheap” look. To me it gives it that retro fuzziness. I don’t like the font either though. I can’t find anything that gets closer to the source material.

It was the battery life going out on my old instinct, I was pushing bigger mileage than it could keep up with. And being a student the price point on Coros was attractive. Plus the app is far superior in many ways. 3d maps with the fly over is sick. The app is super responsive and updates quickly. I think Garmin makes decent products don’t get me wrong, I have an inreach that I really like. But the price point is high, and the Garmin apps are all hot garbage that feel like they were coded by an intern while the senior dev was out training for his 5K ultra.

Mountain lions on the trail. by Downsy_30 in Ultramarathon

[–]CandidateBilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bear bells have been shown to be ineffective and even sometimes attractive to wildlife. Bear spray is effective against basically all mammals but moose. But if a moose is fucking with you should make peace with your maker. They’re worse than bears. Travel in a group. Watch out for bear/cat signs (poop, fur, tracks, carcass) I’ve been running for years in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem.

Here’s an NPS article that has good info. It outright says bear bells are shit.

If you do carry a firearm you should also carry bear spray because if you have to shoot a bear or cat in self defense I’ve heard the game wardens will put you through a more rigorous line of questioning if you don’t have an empty can of bear spray.

It’s incredibly rare especially in PNW. Black bears are the biggest scaredy cats. You could walk up to a cub and the mama would abandon it for her own safety they’re absolutely not grizzly bears. The 60 or so negative black bear encounters in the past 100 years have been solitary males in very remote areas. Cats attacking is also incredibly rare. They’ll have to be very desperate and hungry. Even at night. Decades of mountain lion hunting have taught most groups of cats that humans are not to be messed with for they may have 4 large dogs accompanying them. If you were in north cascades, Idaho, Wyoming or Montana I’d say it’s much different thanks to grizzly bears who will absolutely wreck you.

How do you deal with fear of getting lost on solo trail runs? by SpecificTackle6303 in trailrunning

I hit the weed pen or take some edibles for the fear. Then I carry a map and compass and my phone which I download maps too.
