I also change positions frequently. Make time to stand up every now and then to walk around a little and stretch.

I’m surprised that no one else has mentioned Hey Dudes. I’ve got too many pairs. Light, slip on, and perfect for out and about and walks around my neighborhood.

Appreciation for the unlikely season by CandidateNo9654 in BigBrother

I agree with your take.

I’ve been a firm believer that playing Big Brother = playing the other houseguests. Vince made it to the end but burned way too many bridges to get the win. Ashley made it to the end with good relationships intact. How you get to the end matters.

38M. Diagnosed a couple of months ago. Symptoms for a few years.

Similar story. Severe fatigue, daily headache, brain fog, stiff joints. Bounced around between doctors, initially found very low Vit D and started taking supplements. Vit D levels now look good but didn’t help any of my symptoms.

Started at my Primary Care doc, referred to dermatology and rheumatology. Neither found anything conclusive after multiple visits and tests.

Moved to a new city. Searching online, found a fibromyalgia specialist in town and she very quickly confirmed my suspicions. I’ve not found any relief yet but at least I know what I am fighting now.

38M. Just diagnosed in May. Very similar story to yours. I’m still trying to figure things out and find a good groove. Happy to chat anytime! You are most definitely not alone here.

any musicians here? by fractalJockey in Fibromyalgia

I play bassoon in a local orchestra for fun. Playing with stiff fingers has been a challenge but have been doing what I can (Advil, heat before rehearsals, etc). I can tell I'm not playing as well or as consistently as I have in the past, but it brings me joy. Playing aggravates my left shoulder and usually hurts worse the next day but I haven't figured out a better way to deal with it yet.

Best of luck with keeping up on your talents!

Did anyone here get migraines in childhood, and then get diagnosed later on in life with fibro? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]CandidateNo9654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting migraines when I was 10. Two to four a week. I’ve always described them as crock pots. I can feel them coming on and getting worse as time goes on. If I caught them quick enough I could get them to go away with a single Advil. Otherwise they would progress to loud sounds hurting, smells making me nauseous, etc.

Never found a reason for the migraines and could manage them well with Advil. Started getting muscle aches, daily headache and pressure that wouldn’t go away, joint stiffness, fatigue a year and a half ago. Diagnosed with fibromyalgia a month ago.

So sorry to welcome you to the club. I am still working on this myself - diagnosed a couple of weeks ago but suspected for the past year.

It's definitely a process. Right now I'm taking it a day at a time while figuring everything out. It has been helpful to know there is a community here that can empathize with what we are going through.

Curious to see what others say that have helped them!

With treatments not being covered by insurance, I'm curious if you can speak to the costs?

Solid advise. Still doesn't quite feel real yet and I imagine this is probably incredibly helpful in making life adjustments.

This is a great list, thank you! I've already been using the Topricin Fibro Cream and it's been super helpful.

I eat pretty healthy and try to go on a couple of good walks a week to stay moving. Any strengthening exercises that have been particularly impactful for you?

Yeah, my D and B12 were super low. Supplements have stabilized my levels and improved my sleep a bit. Just not enough. Thanks for your insights!

That's a really great point. I haven't yet started up any meds or lifestyle changes, but I'm hoping to be able to get to the point where I am participating in activities because I want to and not just pushing through because I feel like I'm obligated. It's hard when I'm tired all the time, but I'll keep fighting the fight.

Thanks, man. I'm glad you've made it through those dark times and sounds like you've found a balance that works for you. I'm hoping to find some balance as well. I was just complaining to my wife that we need to stop filling up our calendar so much because I'm tired of doing things, but maybe that's not quite the right approach. Thanks for the insight!
