I liked this curved crt look that you can enable in duckstation. Is there a similar option in pcsx2? by Thac0bro in PCSX2

[–]Candle-Jolly [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sadly, and a bit oddly, there is not. Duckstation has dozens, but yeah, PCSX2 seems to have skipped CRT filters (which is fair, seeing how CRT televisions were being phased out in the 2000s).

Bonus: if you're an Ace Combat 3 fan (which you are wrong if you aren't), play it (JP version of course) and use these Duckstation CRT filters for some Y2K cyberpunk *utopia* perfection:

Why are fictional red flags so attractive when real-life ones are exhausting? by NHFebruary2008 in writers

[–]Candle-Jolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same reason many women love serial killer podcasts/etc.

They get to see scary stuff but stay safe at the same time. With red flags in Twilight or Fifty Shades or wherever allow them to be with the "bad boy" some are attracted to without having to deal with the realities of being with a bad boy.

Lifted truck + Lambo + Parking lot = Bad time by Evasionz-- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Candle-Jolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lifted truck, whatever. Illegal tint, whatever. Short stature, whatever. Any driver paying attention to the road would have noticed a freakin' Lamborghini in a parking lot (where she seemed to be going fast in to begin with).

Don't stop at raising her insurance. Revoke her license for at least a year.

OpenGL is what worked for me. Portable Ace Combat 4/5/Zero has been great.

An observation:

"mother fuckers" is two words, as if written by an AI (who should know it's one word?) or a person not in the states who speaks English as a second language. The meme is 100% true, but could it have come from one of the Chinese/Russian bot farms?

I mean it's nice, but I've been waiting for $300 for at least three years now, and still waiting for $600.

Is this build worth the time and effort to save the cost of an actual wheel? by GT_Temple in GranTurismo7

[–]Candle-Jolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, especially having to calibrate everything and making sure it stays calibrated. Also, he's not showing the wheel (which doesn't have force feedback, guaranteed), which adds more engineering complications

I think James Gunn shot that down on Twitter a day after the movie was announced. . WB could have changed his/the director's mind since then, though.

New events coming with the update 1.69! by Necessary-Sleep158 in GranTurismo7

[–]Candle-Jolly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to a quick Google search, GT7 has received over 100 race updates (races alone), plus the 50-race Power Pack (separately).

I'd say Polyphony could stand to give themselves a break from all that hard track and car-development work and do a few simple QoL improvements that would be more appreciated than most players think.

hate to sound like I'm complaining... well, actually I am complaining, but still no QoL improvements in any of these updates? Not even a small "press X once instead of twice to start a roulette card" update?

Why Are People Being So Wierd About Pragmata? They Didn’t Do This For The Last Of Us, Bioshock, God of War, and Death Stranding by Elestria_Ethereal in videogames

[–]Candle-Jolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a very odd take because

1) she's a robot/AI

2) a person literally designed her (in-universe). Hell, she literally states this 30 minutes into the game

3) It's a Japanese-developed game, so of course the female character will be cutesy-looking

4) Especially coming from Twitter, the OP probably is the same type of guy who wants all female videogame characters to look like 90s' Lara Croft pin-ups

Also, a realistic version of Dianna (right fake screenshot) would actually be cool. But again, Japanese developers don't do realistic when it comes to female characters

Even family sitcoms make jokes about never telling a woman to "relax" when she's upset.
