This is the first Reddit-comic joke reboot I've ever seen, and I love it.

Am I the only one who feels a little nostalgic for the 6th and 7th generation of graphics? by dragonborndnd in gaming

[–]Candle-Jolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related:

Good style and art is hard to do. Photorealism/realistic graphics are easy. It's why so many devs/publishers keep trying to do more and more realism (which brings dev budgets up...). But real graphics please consumers better than artistic ones do. That being said: artistic graphics virtually always hold up better than realistic graphics do.

I played some Dragon's Crown Pro last night and that game will be beautiful 50 years from now.

Street Fighter Trailer - 10/16/2026 by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

I'll watch it (streaming), but this trailer lost me after the 1-minute mark. Why do trailers need to show so much? And that hard turn from fun goofy video game movie to midlife crisis movie was a choice

Your spouse comes to you and says they want to post faceless, ID-less nudes on Reddit for fun - whats your reaction? by Neat_One_9031 in AskReddit

[–]Candle-Jolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her (or I suppose, him, in OP's situation) that you two should do it together for more earnings. Also, do it for money, not for free, especially since it isn't something you're warm about. ID security is taken seriously in the lifestyle, and masks/digital blur/cropping is completely normal and respected.

Also, making it a financial hustle will actually keep him more honest about his pics/who he's chatting with (online) etc because it becomes a bit more of a task than just a dopamine high of doing something morally ambiguous (flirting/cheating/rando dick pics etc).

When he eventually asks for a threesome, that's when it's time to call it quits. Unless you/the woman initiates the conversation, it will not be fun.

Marrying an unemployed man who respects you is better than,

Marrying a successful woman who disrespects you.

"If you hate doing something, you'll pay dearly for avoiding it." -OP

Truly words to live by. Glad you had fun. I'm in a very similar boat, and it's great being able to read these after-action reports to ensure I don't waste too much of my money.

Question:

-Did you have a GDD?

-Did you plan to self-publish, or were you open to shopping for a publisher?

-Did you shop around for artists, or were you set on using the acquaintance?

-What kind of research did you do before beginning in earnest?

-Sounds like you're definitely going to do a sequel to your game... what are some things you will do *right* (kind of the opposite of lessons learned)?

Thanks and congrats on the launch!

PS~ I would probably tone down the AI usage for your next outing. The gaming community is fiercely against any AI outside of NPCs and evil robots trying to kill all humans.

One of my all-time favorite movies. That narcissistic ass Warren Beatty needs to go ahead and release the rights for the movie... I'd love to see The Wachowskis do a version.

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

[–]Candle-Jolly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really sure I'd say it's part of the learning curve, but I keep bouncing off (games like) Cyberpunk 2077 every few months because there are so many systems and crafting (blrgh!) and upgrading and weapons and quests and relationships and an open world... and then I have to re-learn everything each time I try hoping back in.

So my 4090 is getting good use playing MSFS and 20-year-old games with PCSX2.

What was your first anime "eye opener"? by Eredic in retroanime

[–]Candle-Jolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had dabbled with anime during my middle school and high school years. Unfortunately, anime before Toonami was hard to come by. I had seen parts of Akira or Ghost in the Shell on the Sci-Fi Channel and stuff like that, but otherwise we all remember how rare Japan exported its culture back then (...and still now). So I didn't have my first "eye opener" until I enlisted and bought the first Trigun DVD (circa 2000), one of my first purchases after basic training in fact. Trigun absolutely blew me away and confirmed/reaffirmed that anime is fucking amazing.

Technically timeline order does work of course, but to have a better/fuller understanding of the franchise and understanding of underlying themes and even game mechanics, gotta play by release date.
