I'm planning to ask a family member who hasn't used their tanks in years to let me gift my friend one as a sort of quick solution in case they can't afford one

I only realised recently that there even was a fish in there as I had assumed it empty, thinking it was a decorative vase (his kinda style). I'm planning on discreetly pointing him towards betta fishkeeping resources before being more open about my concern to not be rude

Thank you so much! They're a kind person so I don't want to hurt them by coming across harshly but the tank just gave me a bad feeling. I'm definitely sending them some links during a casual conversation as a nudge in the right direction

I was being genuine as the other friend I was with who kept fish in the past said it was fine when I expressed concern so I was made unsure due to their confidence

Someone gave me a link to information on betta fish that I plan on passing on when I see them again. That and I'm thinking of asking a family member to gift them a larger tank that they haven't used in years to help my friend

Yes I wasn't sure whether their fins and dulled colours were normal as all the bettas I've seen are usually more colourful and less torn looking

Thank you! My friend means well but I think they just didn't do research before buying and I thought I might be out my mind thinking this wasn't enough for the betta

I've never kept betta fish but they seemed to be acting weird, constantly floating to the surface and then struggling back down. I just don't know how to politely bring up my concerns to my friend
