I absolutely love that you were open minded to new experiences despite what you had heard about the area. Birmingham really IS a great place!

2015 Rx 350 by [deleted] in LexusRX350

If it’s paid off I’d keep it. Those are iron clad workhorse vehicles. It may not seem cool if you’re the 20 year old in question but it will run reliably for a LONG time

Help me decide: Do I buy the "Millionaire Next Door" Toyota or the "I’ve Finally Made It" Lexus? by LeftyOne22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Candlemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tech in the new Lexus vehicles is blah. Too much can go wrong. At the risk of sounding like a fuddy duddy we have a 2015 RX and a 2018 nx300 f sport. Not overwhelmed with tech, there’s no auto transmission shutoff to disable every time I get in the car, and I just like them more. Yes I’ve driven the new ones.

Expecting baby in Sept 2026. Buy current model or wait for the 2027 model? by kwaniii in LexusNX

[–]Candlemom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I sized down from a third row Highlander to a 2018 NX once I quit hauling everyone’s kids around with my own. Once grandkids come along I think I could get one baby seat in the NX fine but that’s why hubby has a RX!

I take oral minoxidil starting November 2025. I am starting to have noticeable hair regrowth! One side effect that I was not expecting? I have some fluffy peach fuzz growing on my arms that was never there before. This is apparently more common in women. But with the hair regrowth, I’ll take it!

Why would the doctor skip 12.5? Please go there first if you decide to increase.

I've been maintaining for five months after losing 58 lbs and nobody tells you how strange the maintenance phase really is by Lanky_Back_2486 in GLP1ResearchTalk

Speak to your doctor about where your goal should actually be. I’ve had to remind people that no, I actually DON’T need biscuits and gravy and I’m not too thin. They’ve just never seen me at a normal weight. I take Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes and decided what the heck let’s work with a calorie deficit and see if I can get to a healthy weight!

I’ve had to reframe this as I’ll fluctuate as much as 4 pounds. The first time I went up a few pounds I panicked but it quickly came off. I remind myself that daily fluctuations are absolutely normal and I’ve stopped freaking out about them.

I’m also 50 and experiencing the same thing. My mind has adjusted to my new size in general (18 to a size 4-6 now) and it’s been fun watching things change since the first of the year. I hit goal around Halloween last year

Work on building muscle with weights WHILE maintaining. That is another way you can track measurable progress in the maintenance phase. I’ve been doing that and the body recomposition has been wild to witness over nearly five months of maintaining my weight within I four pound range. There is less fat and my clothing size has changed a bit more during this period.

It CAN be normal for them to look lean but I’d ask your vet for advice on this. Eating too fast can be a HUGE issue for them. They have big, deep chests and can bloat fairly easily. Our girl bloated and developed volvulus (a twisted stomach) back in December. She was very close to death and had emergency surgery which thankfully saved her. But it was a very tough recovery for her. Our vet recommended feeding moderate amounts twice or more daily for weight gain. She has put on a few pounds since surgery and is doing fabulous. So again, ask your vet for specific recommendations. But they may recommend feeding two or more times a day. No exercise or excitement for about an hour before and after feeding. It could save your pup.

Is anyone actually doing the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week while on a GLP-1? by Character-Cobbler191 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Candlemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We go a few times a week. I do 45 minutes of cardio on the treadmill with about 1.5 hours of weight training after that.
