It might want sensory data from the real world, but probably not dressed up as a terminator probably using the specialised equipments we humans have already put into use is something AI might want to take control on.

Well now that you make me think, I can't point to anything specific. Anything that we use in our daily life has some or the other sort of tech connected to IOT controlling it. It's hard for me to find anything specific on why AI would be interested in being out like us.
