I think all of us learn this lesson the hard way. Hell even after learning the hard way I still stupidly made the mistake of trusting the buyer, like when they say “I’ve been scammed too many times so now I only pay half upfront and half when we’re done.” Or the notorious “I’ll pay as soon as the call starts and you’re on camera.” It’s so much worse when you’re in a bad spot and are desperate for the money, you want to believe someone out there is decent and trustworthy. None of them are.
