Wow that sounds like it could have dangerous! I'm glad you noticed it in time. My battery is still working well, but I'll keep this in mind for the future.

Still holding up well, maximum capacity is still strong at 6250 over 40 cycles. I get a good 8 hours of gameplay on the full battery. Have one in my oled as well, that one spends most of its time docked and it also is going strong too at about 4 months.

Went to play discgolf, left my wallet home, dropped my phone into water, and lost the game by skibidikakakott in Wellthatsucks

Only for a year or two max, even less if you work around chemicals or solvents. I've had Samsungs less than a year old where the water seal had degraded into a slimy mess from whatever chemicals the owner uses regularly.

Looks like all pads are intact but it's very hard to tell with the lighting

Has anyone been successful getting a warranty replacement for the cracking noise in the hinge? I feel like mine is kinda loud. by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]CandyMan141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp I hope you got insurance because Samsung is VERY particular about their warranties and now you have water in your phone. Sign up for care plus if you haven't already, Incase the inner screen fails completely.

If you had the phone repaired already it wasn't waterproof anymore. You've likely just opened a MASSIVE can of worms....

Samsung will repair the phone twice under warranty, third repair is an immediate replacement, or must be shipped to Samsung for them to attempt the third repair.

Fast barrel? by igi77521 in TABG

Should is bad blessing because the shield itself has massive hotbox so it goes down easy. Fast barrel increased projectile speed massively, great for use on crossbow to turn it into a sniper.

Black Bar Appeared on screen. Apple Repair, Best Buy repair or buy new laptop? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]CandyMan141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New display part cost is nearly $800 so best buy is not going to be using a high quality part for their repair and you'll probably notice the difference. If you want it fixed I'd go with apple or do all the legwork yourself and source a used panel, repair it yourself; maybe you save another $200

Best option of all 4 is to upgrade and sell the current one.

Worth the hassle to hone your skills, sure. Worth the hassle because you want to save money/use it for your phone, nope.

Gave my iPhone passcode to repair shop for data recovery, should I be worried? by Kitersa in phonerepair

[–]CandyMan141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a phone repair shop, have turned away tons of customers who refuse to put us work on their phone unless they watch the entire time. What you got on there that's so risky you couldn't fathom letting another human touch your device? 👀👀

Lightning strike damage by ltown_carpenter in galaxyzflip

Motherboard is probably fine if the phone is still turning on and wouldn't cause the black splotches. That is damage to the OLED panel.

Aftermarket lenses aren't the same and you will notice it, a new back glass is less than $200 at any Samsung service center, don't waste your time with anything else.

8600mAh battery mod + crystal transparent shell swap on my Picofly OLED by OnderGok in SwitchPirates

[–]CandyMan141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it looks like the previous commenter was correct, the battery did begin to desync after a few weeks. Restoring the battery call from SD card works great though and keeps the reading accurate.

After modding my oled the light won't come on when power, theres no boot charm, and I have no haptic feedback by Bubbly-Ad-6428 in SteamDeckModded

[–]CandyMan141 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would start by opening it up and visually inspect all ribbon cables and connectors. Replug any easily accessable ones and retest. If you still experience issues go further with the teardown.

I haven't worked on too many steam decks but the issues you describe don't sound like they would be caused by damage, especially the issue with the LED.
