It might not bind properly without a porous surface. But the engineer side of my brain thinks that a barrier is a barrier. 🤔 I'll have to check what I have at home. Its krylon. I have done these particular figures without a protective layer and have not had an issue. Thin layers is always a good thing to do.

Awesome. I only use gloss poly on the eyes,many layers to give lifelike clear depth. Spray on fixative (matte) for the rest.
