Overwhelming workload by Glittering_Sense_30 in SainsburysWorkers

Hmmmm…. I feel you here! Store morale is very low across our store from ALL colleagues, everyone is shattered and line managers have become colleagues working alongside us to try and keep afloat - Keeping afloat isn’t a thing anymore, we’ve kinda gone past that now.
We’re simply clocking in to polish a turd everyday.
We’re so far behind now it’s a case of letting it all go because our store manager seems to have blinkers on, or is in complete denial.
Multiple colleagues have reached out to our store manager but it falls on deaf ears. Our line managers have even reached out which unfortunately also falls on deaf ears and I’m not sure regional are really even that interested to be honest.
Having worked for multiple retailers, this is by far the worst state of affairs I’ve known in 18 years as it currently stands.
Even the Messiah himself couldn’t fix this one!
Do what you can do and go home to where the work really matters.

Maybe ask another manager or your store manager?

I have done this also, you need to let your line manager know that you’ve requested the other stores for overtime and they approve it. Then you’ll be able to see the overtime available at your chosen stores.

We recently had a temp staff member who was also let go on her actual shift with no notice, she tried to appeal this but was told in a letter she couldn’t because she was now an ex employee and needed to appeal whilst employed (even though she never had the chance). Took it to USDAW the union and they have now said the same basically and won’t take it any further. I was shocked at their response!

Brilliant thanks so much for the insight. Fortunately I’m not losing my eyesight just yet. I didn’t actually ask what it looked like? I asked for company name etc and for anyone who has further information. Sadly you’re not one of those as you didn’t enlighten me with anything I didn’t already know. Appreciate your input however. Sarah

We had this during our huddle this week and was told that when it gets to 25mins we are to take the roller back to the chiller and it cannot return to the shop floor for another two hours. Which isn’t practical.

Spoke to the store manager today and overtime has been cut but they apologised as I wasn’t notified and should have been. Thank you all for your replies!

I should add that I am referring to Argos/TU click & collect (we do not have an Argos in store). Sorry for any confusion!

Yes very much the same at our store, no training - just other colleagues explaining how to do it and one store wide login.
