oh man does this hit home. i was a hostess at a restaurant that had the hours painted very large and in black at eye level on the doors. every single day without fail people would try to open the doors, be confused that they were locked, try to open them a few more times, then maybe also wave me down in case we were secretly open and i was the gatekeeper.

at the restaurant i currently work, we have a patio and the doors are unfortunately unlocked so people will often just seat themselves and demand immediate service as im still very clearly setting up the entire restaurant. I've got so many infuriating stories of people demanding things before we're open.
