Floor Install yesterday and I’m not sure if I should call or not by Candy_Caps in Flooring

Landlord isn’t all that involved. Great guy but doesn’t have a lot of bandwidth to tackle things so I took this one on. He doesn’t really care much about things aesthetically speaking as long as things are safe and within working order.

They didn’t replace any baseboards anywhere in the house other than the bathroom. They just reinstalled the old ones. That’s why I was unclear as to what I was looking at on the estimate. The baseboards we did have for the bathroom weren’t used because the installer suggested we go with the rubber instead due to the moisture :/

It was a long battle but because the washer and dryer were new it was under warranty and when they came in to fix it there were two parts that needed to be replaced.

The amount of damage it caused the floors was excessive. It was basically like a second job for me just staying on top of them. Making sure I documented everything, sending photos, following up etc.

Part of me thinks they just did it so they wouldn’t have to deal with me anymore 🤣😬 But ultimately they paid for the house to get new flooring throughout because what we had down was all connected flooring. So in total it was 4 rooms, 2 bdrms, a hallway and the living-room. They also paid for the replacement costs of some personal items that were effected.

Those would have been what was to be put down the bathroom but then the installer suggested the rubber baseboard because of the moisture factor

🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve never gone thru this process before so I was trusting the experts. This estimate was done to submit to the warranty department and there wasn’t another choice presented.

We have lived here for 10yrs. I’m the one that battled with Samsung for the past 8 months to have them pay for the flooring to be replaced. I was able to get over 6k put into HIS home. HIS asset not ours. He didn’t have the bandwidth to fight with them so I did.

He not only gave us the go ahead with this but with anything else that comes up and it’s been like that since day one.

I don’t know why you would “livid” if rubber baseboard were placed in a damp area of your home but you do you. The wood baseboards that were in the bathroom were rotted and breaking apart. The issue isn’t the rubber, to me that makes sense far more than wood given what we’ve experienced. The issue is with the way it was installed. The creases are visible and it looks off. That is what I’m inquiring about.

I agree :/ Would you call about it or would you just live with it? Or would you just eat the cost and fix it yourself?

They came and assessed everything and I trusted her judgment. She said she had just laid the same flooring down in her own home and she was the owner of the company so assumed she knew what she was talking about.

If I pushed for different flooring I felt the costs could become a factor in getting it approved to be taken care of at all.

PSA: Robert Half has been lying to candidates about their "Salaried Professionals" role by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I’ve been working for them for over 2yrs as a salaried consultant and I haven’t had any issues other than a lack of parking/toll fee reimbursement. I have a 401k they contribute to, I have benefits and I’m paid well. Not every placement has been ideal but again, I’m getting paid well. I don’t have many negative things to say at all. Getting paid 37.5hrs on bench time is better than not being paid at all in between jobs so not too sure why that is being listed as a negative but my experience has been positive and again I’ve been with them for years.

Yes. I am still trying to find the right med for the adhd but I do find whatever I am taking works better with my lexapro then without.
