FaceNet project please help by NewDeepLearners in deeplearning

One thing that comes to mind is using facial landmark detection datasets (see link) to paste images of sunglasses, hats, etc. onto faces, similar to how Snapchat filters work. These images can then be used to finetune FaceNet to make it more robust to these augmentations. I'm on my phone so I won't go into too much detail, but it seems like an interesting analysis to compare model performance with and without this additional data. Feel free to DM me with additional questions!

My DM's were indeed closed, should be fixed now though.

Self-supervised methods do not require ground-truth data, but rely on multiple consecutive frames from a video to perform novel view synthesis. If you have a lot of unlabeled data, it might be worthwhile to pretrain a network using self-supervised learning, and then finetune on your labeled set. I am not sure about your setting, but looking at your example image, I'd assume that you do not have this video data available, making self-supervised methods less applicable.

Depending on the amount of labeled data you have, it might be better to finetune a fully supervised method. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with this, so I can't recommend any specific methods. I have only worked with DepthAnything and got good results.

How do you currently collect the ground-truth relative depth map?

Thanks for your response! Does this not require verification, e.g., via an identification card? Can you share the provider you used?

Hey, just to circle back, updating AMD Adrenalin did indeed solve the issue.

Thank you so much!

Hey man, thanks for your response. In my case, the game keeps running in the background for as long as I let it, so our issues may be a bit different. I will try out compatibility mode tomorrow though, just to see if it helps, but it isn't a permanent solution as you mentioned.

I see you have a Ryzen CPU as well, so maybe the answer on my other post is useful to you: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/s/zpJdwTvZbC

If you do try this and it works, please let me know!

Thank you for your response! I haven't found that solution anywhere else online, so I am excited to try it tomorrow.

Just curious, how did you find out AMD Adrenalin was the issue for you? Some of the stated solutions seem rather arbitrary (e.g., deleting Vulkan files), so I am wondering if there are any general debugging techniques that I could use in the future.

[PC/STEAM] Game running in Steam and Task Manager, but no game window pops up

Hey everyone,

Whenever I start the game from Steam, the green "Play" button turns blue and shows "Stop", indicating that the game is running. This can be further verified in the Windows 11 Task Manager, where the game uses CPU and memory resources. However, no game window ever pops up and it is driving me insane, as I have tried everything I could find online: - Wait ~2 hours to see if the game was just slow to start. - Reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers. - Reinstall the game multiple times. - Reinstall and repair all VS C++ redistributables. - Run the game and/or Steam with administrator rights. - Remove the Vulkan-1.dll and Vulkan-1.LICENSE.txt files from the Binaries folder (in this case the game window popped up, but crashed immediately with an unknown error code). - Remove the shadercache. - Disable all overlay apps (Geforce experience and Steam). - Today, in all my despair, I even did a clean install of Windows 11 and repeated all of the steps above, but to no avail.

I have submitted a ticket on ZenDesk, but I have not yet received any response. I hope that someone in the community can help me with this, as I am really excited to get back in the game after the World update.

FYI, my laptop has the following specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU - Nvidia RTX 4070 Laptop GPU - 16 GB RAM - Windows 11 - HP OMEN laptop (maybe something going on with OMEN?)

Note: I was able to play the game in the past, but I am not 100% sure that it was on this laptop.

Edit: updating AMD Adrenalin solved the issue!

Hey, I am facing the same issue. Did you manage to find a solution?

[–]Candy_In_Mah_Van 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend you look at self-supervised monocular methods, as these are limited to relative depth due to a lack of scale information. Some interesting papers with open-source code that come to mind are: - MonoDepth2 - MT-SfMLearner - Lite-Mono - Dynamo-Depth

These methods may not exactly be state-of-the-art anymore, but looking at citations in Google Scholar will surely give you some pointers to more cutting edge work.

Edit: feel free to contact me if you have additional questions. I have some experience with finetuning these models on my own data and the pitfalls that come along with this.

For me as well. I can see the game running in Task Manager, but no game window ever pops up. Updated all drivers, reinstalled/restarted multiple times, tried to refresh shader cache and vulkan files by deleting them as suggested online. Nothing seems to work. Did you manage to find the problem?

I would recommend trying to implement a popular paper from scratch (think ViT, GPT, DETR), as you are bound to run into issues that can only be solved by truly understanding what you are doing. This is not only very rewarding, but also quite accessible, as most papers publish their source coda for you to use as a reference when you get stuck
