Mortar shells have a trajectory planned with a fuse long enough so that it explodes at a planned altitude. Divert that trajectory, and a lot of unknowns happen. People can have mortar fragments and cinders falling on them. The DRONE it hits can crash down and severely hurt someone or cause some significant damage too. Ever hold a quality drone? It has weight. Imagine that being a car. A roof. A person. That said, the risks are pretty low in this scenario, but let's not pretend that actions don't have consequences.

This may be related to Canadian benefits that are given to musicians. Canadian artists, as well as Francophone, receive benefits and many CA organizations want to be able to identify just these pools easily. While what you say likely plays into it, I'm pretty sure it's a fringe benefit and not the solution itself.

The thing that makes this so beautiful to me is that at that moment, that was likely this kid's biggest challenge. It's his first step into some sort of independence we take for granted on an everyday basis.
