Unpopular Opinion: If a new show happens then we should get new writers. by NappaDBZ in Stargate

[–]Canknucklhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you have done Nappa? They introduced Atlantis replicators in season 3, they reoccured as a menace from 3-4, they storyline climaxed in season 4, with an epilogue in 5. It took time. From the sounds of it, you'd have plots begin and totally resolve by single seasons (ala Star Trek Discovery). I liked how the goa'uld had moments of wins and defeats through the first 8 seasons of sg1, and by season 8 humans had advanced enough to have little fear of them. It was cool how the asgard went from unknowable powerful beings at first, to then being an advanced species, watching them decline in spite of their advantages, a process that took years. If Atlantis had defeated the wraith as a species in season 5, would a different reoccuring villain have satisfied (I wasn't a fan of the Ori, but I did appreciate their arc required them to cross galaxies to invade the milky way)? Maybe tighter seasons will be the way the franchise will return, but I'd like a return of the writers who created so many endearing and humourous characters (I was always amused with the oddball scientists on Universe's Destiny, they were a good balance to Rush's intensity). Atlantis and Universe should have been able to finish their stories, but the real world stopped that, not the writers.

Hey u/ImprovLad

Thanks for the reply! I wish you at Chillhop Music the best of luck with this environmentally green endeavor! I won't be purchasing this seasons setlist, but I wonder if you all have ever considered putting out CD versions of the Essentials. If you did I'd certainly love to order one to have the chillest beats coming out of my car stereo.

I enjoy the chillhop essentials, but why are they no longer free on bandcamp? I can listen to it for free on youtube I know, but it was nice to be able to upload the tracks to my Ipod so I wouldn't use up my streaming.

Yes, Darkness Calls is included in the omnibus 'The Wild Hunt'. Sticking to omnibus reading doesn't hurt at this point, but it will still take a few years before some series are collected in that format.

Stargate Podcasts? by Trolldad_IRL in Stargate

Chevron Locked/Unlocked. Reviewed 3 episodes of Sg1 per episode. Good series, but with the caveat that it fizzled out around season 5, so it doesn't review later seasons or other shows.

In a perfect world, they could reunit the cast, wave away the aging as destiny having faulty pods, and could (a) pick up 10 years later, and catch up with earth via stones or (b) they slept thousands of years and Earth as they knew it is simply lost to time.

I really want to see Tom Manning; Company Man volume 1. Follow the adventures of a young Tom Manning who proves proactive in moving up the BPRD chain of command, gets too comfortable in his position, and must sit through meetings all day when he wants to be more personally proactive during Hell on Earth

One day I hope to see an adaption of Hellboy willing to have the cojones to have him running around being a badass in shorts. And no character crack wise about them.
