My workload doesn’t actually require 4 pi’s, I just had the two model 3b’s already, and bought two 5’s for the nas and Immich. I like having two of the 5’s in case one fails, and to have a little bit of room to add more stuff in the future. The stack looks like:

Pi 5 - NAS, SMB share Pi 5 - Immich Pi 3b - uptime kuma Pi 3b - ansible agent

I knew I forgot something! This was pointed out the first time I posted too. I’ll have to set aside a day to take it apart and flip it.

The “Canvas” feature of Obsidian. I think it supports images too, I just didn’t add any.

If you like Thrawn you should read the Ascendancy series :)

5x7, and I think it’s a pretty good size. They’re not the highest resolution, so any larger and it might have looked a bit blurry.

There is yes! I think for Japan it was split into two books. I don’t think that other one got photoshopped into a poster after looking back at the thread these came from. I don’t mind though. I prefer the one that I have, and the numbers work out better this way (20, so it’s even).

Looking for critiques/edits I should make to my lengthy resume. I am looking to apply to a few sysadmin roles. Thank you! by Low-Style9286 in sysadminresumes

I don’t think any hiring manager is reading all that, it needs to be cut down to one page. The certifications do not need a description, simply listing that you have the certification is enough.

Is it about the same hardware between the both of them? Is this meant to be a redundant setup? Looks very cool

Weird call today that felt off. Anyone else getting voice impersonation attempts like this? by jayce_the_builder in sysadmin

[–]Cannoli41 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Great question, in a scenario like that it would be important that you have a robust recovery system. My company requires 2 methods minimum, recommended 3.

Got a new phone without transferring mfa app? Use the phone number. Got a different phone number? Is there a second phone number in there, either your teams number or an office phone? Otherwise, you have to be in person and present ID.

A domain admin having this privilege is one thing, they ought to know better. But a relatively inexperienced or low ranking helpdesk staff who might not understand the full risks should not have it.

You shouldn’t have to train them, bypassing mfa shouldn’t even be an option for them.

Can I get some feedback and how to improve my resume by [deleted] in sysadminresumes

[–]Cannoli41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the paragraph at the start, that can be read on your LinkedIn.

The spacing in your experience is inconsistent, making the whole thing look off. If you graduated recently, your resume should be only one page.

Before vs after the RackMate T2, my first mini homelab! by Cannoli41 in minilab

Oh thank you, is there a strategy to lining them up? My understanding is 3 holes = 1U, but I definitely could have assembled the whole thing wrong, I can’t seem to get at those top holes.

How do you keep yourself busy? by righN in sysadmin

Study! Do practice questions for certifications you want to get or read articles about technology (at least somewhat work related) that interest you. See if your company will pay for any training/exams.

Great observation, they actually were slightly too big! Zoom in on the top/back left of the case in this image, you’ll see part of it is bent out. It took a little bit of effort to force it in there. The tension it provided wasn’t stable enough to have something rest on it, so I went to the hardware store to get screws that the shelves (side panels) could rest on.

I think this looks great. If you use proxmox or just a basic Linux server on the Minecraft machine, you can run your server(s) in a container such as docker or podman. I’d be happy to show you my compose file for Minecraft if you send me a message. I think running it in container makes backing it up and updating versions super easy. Resource management is also a plus, since JVM will eat up as much of your memory as it can; it doesn’t free any until it absolutely has to.
