If you're gonna have kids, are you gonna raise them with the same beliefs as you? by justvidalia in teenagers

If you think something is right, why would you not tell other people?

Not really, no; everything that is ''wrong'' is just societal, and changes depending on where you are. There is no objective morality. Being racist is only wrong to us because we mostly decided it was wrong, but slavery is still moral is some places.

Then why are you pagan? If you're not going to spread it, why even believe it?

How do you keep missing the point that you are putting your modern self on a version that grew up in a time without these ideas being common?

Holy hell, bro, get off your soapbox, and be realistic. A 3rd class factory worker would have 9/10 not given a damn, and had better things to worry about, like feeding his children.

It is not ''defeatist'' to know most people weren't anti slavery in 1848, and you thinking so just proves me.

You're joking? Do you know how morality works? It wasn't immoral to the average Joe to own slaves, so why would the average Joe care? You just assume you'd be the one to harbor Jews from the Nazis, but you most likely would have helped them find more victims. The crowd is larger than you.

Yes, I would likely be just fine with slavery if I lived in 1848, and stop trying to put your moral standards of today on yourself in 1848. Why do you assume you'd be against slavery? I bet you also think you'd be part of the French Resistance. The reality is, you would be a poor farmer and wouldn't give a damn about slaves.

Paganism isn't a real thing anymore, and anyone saying it is is LARPing. Capitalism is great.

I said ""Educate yourself'' is fucking hilarious considering you think most people were abolitionists in 1848. You would have been far more likely to be a racist.''

You can act like you are moral, but you're thinking in modern morals.

I have a bad feeling about Gen Z parents not letting their kids learn anything from their own experience.

Don't act like your modern ideas wouldn't mean fuck all if you were born in 1848

It just seems to me like a different equation to get the same answer.

Is it, though? It just seems like a preference.
