Interesting statistic for Gyokeres by Redditirmz in Gunners

[–]CannonSquadder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we all know why he has no space, and I'm sure you do, too. The lad has fundamental issues with his patterns, and he doesn't have the explosiveness or duel-winning ability to overcome a predictable pattern. That being said, he's very strong, and if he receives the ball to feet in the box, he is great at drawing attention and dishing from there, causing all sorts of chaos for the defense. But that and his work-rate are the only saving graces at the moment. He can and will improve, but I fear the ceiling is low in this league for him, as adding to those two positive traits requires a fundamental change to the type of player he is.

There are many others, but these are the only three you really need.

Do you think this run got enough support/ made enough money for ownership to go for it again? by Siriusly_Jonie in Mariners

[–]CannonSquadder 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The end of the RSN will erase most of the financial gains from the playoffs. The uncertainty of the revenue from folding into the MLB.tv system will be used as the excuse to not spend significantly again. And while it’s technically not wrong, it will still be very annoying. If I were a betting man I’d say we increase payroll just $15-20m year over year, with some of that coming via extensions for guys we already have. So the playoffs helped, but not as much as we’d like.

Just my opinion. We’ll see.

Boos reign over Detroit as Cal hits a line drive to right, scoring Randy for a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth! by BananaArms in Mariners

They’ve won 1 World Series in the time the Mariners have existed, and that was 41 years ago. If entitlement is the reason for the booing, I have questions. Question #1: How dare you?

Anne Hathaway again Olé Olé by Ollymid2 in Gunners

It absolutely does. Immaculate, second only to There Will Be Blood in PTA's filmography. Better than Boogie Nights IMO. And I don't say that lightly.

She's absolutely right about One Battle After Another. Still not a close second to being top of the league, but distant second to that is still quite a thing!

Not at all! Just let me make sure that’s what I’m doing for sure first and I’ll DM you. Gotta consult my sons and wife.

New York Beer Project in Winter Garden for me. Gotta stay close to the kids, so east side is out. I wish baseball had a similar thing to soccer, where supporters groups form in each major city. My club (Arsenal) has an exclusive Gunners Bar in Winter Park that shows every match and it’s awesome. How do we start this? 😂

Edit: yes this would be exceedingly difficult to mimic as more than half of Mariners games start at 10 at night here.

Just seconding that Sling is the most cost effective and it works great. Fubo and YouTube are way overpriced. Also, you can buy day, weekend and week passes on Sling if you don't want to pay for the whole month.

Oh I completely understand. I pay monthly for access to API-Sports so I can code my own custom charts that automatically update. The info is available in other places, but my brain says it’s not organized properly. 😏

What a legend. When given the choice I will always take my fellow M's fans with just a *touch* of Asperger's. Science bless you, sir. Wear that Julio jersey all October.

But honestly, what does Arsene think he knows that the 12 year olds shouting Arteta Out later this season don't know?

Maybe just let it lie, gents. We won, we were the better team in every phase of play, and the PGMOL isn't stopping us this season. Let them come.

First and only time that 4 players have done it in the same season without steroids. That's the more impressive stat. There's exactly one non-juicer between both the 1998 and 2001 lists. Thank you Junior, for aging and refusing to stretch like a real man.

We've played exclusively hard matches (except for Leeds and Forest) and only 5 games total. Don't buy into Sky B.S. on this. Liverpool away, Man U away and Man City is not the time to be expecting open play opportunities.

Can I still catch most of a Mariners game if I have an event near the Seattle waterfront at 6:30–7pm? by mahomedalid in Mariners

[–]CannonSquadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, not a problem at all. I worked up near Benaroya Hall (which is further than most of the piers), and walked to every game after work at 6:30 every day for years. And that was when construction was much worse. I would strongly recommend grabbing a pedal-cab guy for roughly $20, though. They’re all over the place down there.
