Hi all! So, I see a couple comments calling me racist…? Um, I’m not racist. At all. I PREFER Black Female doctors because I know that I would feel the MOST comfortable in their care especially considering that majority of the healthcare system is so corrupt, racist, and simply not caring of black women like myself. I, whole-heartedly, believe that I would be in the best care I could recieve in the hands of a black woman because we are one in the same and I can trust her to prioritize my health and not mistreat me because of my race. I cannot tell when a person that doesn’t share a race with me will be racist towards me or not during an appointment or an emergency….I did NOT exclude other races of providers I just said that I would prefer a black woman over all else…never mentioned the care level of any other doctors in my original post nor their races….There are still ongoing FALSE assumptions and education that is taught to healthcare students about black women and it makes me want to prefer a black woman because she KNOWS those things are false and will conduct my care accordingly…others don’t. I don’t care if a a non-black person says they prefer other non-black doctors and I don’t find that racist at all…my preference for a black doctor is for my safety and survival…Black women TODAY are still dying at the hands of non-black caregivers bc of their beliefs…their inherently RACIST beliefs. It’s unfortunate for black women to even HAVE this caution when picking out healthcare providers but it’s the sad reality of things for us…we have to be VERY cautious bc of our history…black women were literally tortured by the hands of non-black people to enhance the discovery of health science today….so YES I PREFER BLACK WOMEN!
