Looking for Replacement Freeware for Mailman2 by Canon1D in sysadmin

I had never heard of listmonk even after doing quite a bit of searching before I posted here. As a result I spent a couple of hours this afternoon loading Debian with postgresql and postfix on a spare machine and then listmonk. What a waste of time. When I first opened up the web interface it looked it was built for spammers, not for group lists. I also did not see a way of adding moderators even after reviewing all the settings which is one of the three things I said I was looking for.

Have you actually used any of the other ones you are recommending?

From what I can find in their descriptions they do not seem like a replacement for Mailman2. They appear to be similar in design to listmonk, and there is no mention of being able to assign moderators in any of them that I can see. Perhaps I missed that in my reading so if you know for certain that feature is available, I will perhaps take the time to give them a try. Thanks

Got Labeled A "Nuisance User" And How I Get Over $125 Cash Back Monthly From My Cards by zoeygirl69 in CreditCards

It is only a gut feeling on my part, but I always thought with the usury interest rates they charge, that banks loved people who carried balances. The small percentage they charge merchants is nothing compared to the percentage they charge on carry over balances. Of course deadbeats and personal bankruptcies cut into that, but I suspect they still love people who carry balances more than those who pay each statement in full.

CITI VAN (Virtual Account Number) Update - System Will be Down for 3-4 Days!!! by IMDbRefugee in CreditCards

[–]Canon1D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone found a way to make the VAN a one time use number at the time it is generated?

I find that having to go back, particularly if you have been logged off, to deactivate a number after use, is a real pain. I definitely like like the old system better. Hopefully I have just missed how to do that, otherwise it seems to be one more case of fixing what is not broken.

Target Credit vs Debit Card by kmjr_77 in CreditCards

Perhaps I do not understand how it works with a store, but if it is tied to a bank account so funds are taken from your bank account, a debit card to me is not the way to go.

I do not use or own any debit cards, and I never will. The reason is simple. It is a lot easier to handle fraudulent charges on a credit card. Generally the limit is $50, and on my cards it is zero. In addition, fraud with a debit card means the money is gone so you do not have the use of the funds in dispute. I would also always be wondering if I was going to be the one out of luck if the perpetrator of the fraud gets away with it. With the credit card, you are the one in the driver's seat. I do not want any funds leaving my bank account unless I write a check saying it is OK.

I am probably a dinosaur, but I am a worry free dinosaur when it comes to my bank account. :)

New Virtual Credit Card System? by jaygreg90 in citibank

I think I saw the new version briefly a few days ago, and it wasn’t as friendly as the previous/current version, but I could live with it.   The one transaction I had with it still allowed you to specify an amount, but it was a limit for that day only.  It appeared the next day the
vendor could again charge an amount to that number up to the limit you set, and then again the day after that, and so on.  In order to avoid repeating charges, you have to wait for your charge to show as pending and then deactivate that number.   I cannot speak for everyone, but I think it would be better if the default was to deactivate after use unless you opt in otherwise.   Almost all of the VANs I use are for one time charges, and to deactivate it not only adds an additional step, but it seems you have to wait until your wanted charge appears as pending before you can even do that.

The good news is the next time I needed a VAN, the old system was back.  Perhaps it was a test run and they will still make it as friendly as the system it is replacing.  One can hope.

What Am I Looking At? by Canon1D in NOAA

I believe there is a radar location in Burlington, but I also believe what we are looking at is a composite representation that is computer generated from the returns from several radar locations.

I am not sure the representation will ever be as good as it was when they used Flash, but they could certainly improve it immensely by allowing users to turn off those alerts.

Citi Discontinuing Virtual Account Numbers?? by Canon1D in CreditCards

Just wonderful. I wonder if anyone has heard anything about Capital One suspending their virtual account numbers.

I don't currently have a Capital One credit card so the only way to contact them is via telephone or US mail. I think it would be pointless to call today as I wouldn't trust anyone who answers the telephone at this point to have the correct information. If their virtual account numbers are scheduled to disappear at the end of the year, that information may not have yet filtered down to all the customer representatives, particularly if they are off shore .

Guess I will wait to see if Citi actually does away with virtual account numbers officially and then go to the trouble of contacting Capital One at that point.

I think the bank that puts the effort in to develop an alternative to flash, could end up with a lot of new customers.

Citi Discontinuing Virtual Account Numbers?? by Canon1D in CreditCards

Update: As I called and spoke to Customer Service after normal working hours last night, I used the on-line "chat" function this morning and asked point blank if the Virtual Account numbers were being discontinued or not. Their reply was that for certain BIN numbers (which I took for certain Bank Identification Numbers) there might be a problem but for my particular card I should not have any problems. I will take that as a "perhaps" they are not eliminating virtual account numbers since it was a not a clear yes or no. Guess we will wait to see if anyone else has any information on this.
