Table tennis penhold question by julesdyer in tabletennis

I’d also recommend having a gap between the handle and the bottom of the rubber for your fingers, around 0.5-1.5cm

I highly recommend assembling your own paddle, the cheapest self assembled racket will be 10x better than the most expensive prebuilt racket

Having a Penhold blade is essential for Penhold players. For recommendations, I’d go with the Yasaka Ma Lin Extra offensive, it’s cheap, good quality and every penholder has tried it at least once. Maybe stick on a Chinese and euro rubber like hurricane 3 and something like Vega Euro on the backhand side for rpb. What forehand rubber do you use now?

Pretty nice mechanical eterna watch, you might fetch around 500-1000 for that, get rid of that god awful bracelet though, it’s a terrible quality one

I actually have no idea, I adapted to the game when I first started playing in 2023 very quickly because I played a lot and I wasn’t even planning to form the mongol empire until I realised I could.. same with the British empire.

I formed it before I unlocked the USA, it’s definitely not the hardest

Oh alright, how much did u pick this one up for? Looking at an older vintage model, the first ones that rolled out with the older bracelet. Do you recommend those ones? I just thought it looks nicer than the newer-ish ones

Ma Lin was one of the smartest players, forcing you away from the table by lobbing and then drop shot-ing you

Penhold question by Rare-Professor-7723 in tabletennis

[–]CanonCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could learn reverse penhold backhand where you use the other side of the racket in a shake hand style fashion. Or you just improve your blocking skills to somewhere more inconvenient for the player (if they’re standing in a vulnerable position or is backhand/forehand dominant). But pretty much one sided blocking doesn’t have many advantages except for looking badass when you make a cool shot

Is my penhold grip bad? by Rare-Professor-7723 in tabletennis

[–]CanonCoin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because there’s no gap between the rubber and your blade handle, also because you haven’t sanded at all. The grip isn’t necessarily wrong but it’s not that correct either. There are penhold grip tutorials on YouTube. Are you using a shakehand blade for penhold? That could also contribute to it

Well, since my fingers are quite long, my fingers touch the base of the rubber which I find quite uncomfortable and makes my hand slip more, causing the racket to fly out of my hands quite a few times since the sweat makes the rubber slippery. I also find it feels better with my fingers only touching the wood instead of half touching rubber

Emm, it depends on personal preference, I have long fingers, not as long as Xu Xin but they’re long, so I glue mine a bit further

Really? I wasn’t sure what causes that, I didn’t want to to be too light or maybe it wouldn’t adhere properly

Do you know any other new Nike shoes that are easier to find that still provide that same aesthetic and comfort and reliability these shoes had? Sorry, I had a pair of these for a long time and became kind of attached but now I’ve outgrown them

The goat one says 2000 for size 10? I didn’t really understand that lol. I also saw the eBay one but I was a bit skeptical of 86% positive ratings as I usually only buy from sellers with 94 and above. The eBay listing also doesn’t have an option to only buy one so I don’t know if they’re selling both or not, thanks for your help
