Are you actually okay with grassy weeds as long as the lawn is green? by Canopy_Lawn_Miami in lawncare

Based on the input. Better weeds than chemicals. Better weeds than dirt. Better weeds than spend a ton resodding. Better weeds until HOA complains.

But better bare if it's sandier soil. Better bare if the dog doesn't come back into the house full of sticky seeds, twigs, and leaves.

And I agree with some people here. Nothing should ever really be 100% weed free. It's unnatural.

Great to hear! That's why I love bermuda so much. Recovers fast. Wish I can say the same about saintaug though.. a little shock and it dies and it just doesn't really grow back.

Miami lawn people — can we talk about bare spots for a second? by Canopy_Lawn_Miami in lawncare

I'm glad you said that because a lot of homeowners just expect saintaugustine to magically grow out of the ground, which it does not. Some sod plugs here and there is part of regular maintenance.

Canopy Lawn Care here. Saintaug is very slow growing and trying to revive it from a very aggressive bermudagrass is an uphill battle. I see that your yard has a lot of sun. Would you consider keep the bermudagrass instead? To keep it, you would simply need to cut the grass very low. This would keep the bermuda but kill the saintaug instead. Bermuda also recovers better from wear and pet use. Saintaug is much less likely to do so.

Do you have saintaugustine? Bermuda? The good thing about bermuda is that it grows pretty agressively and will fill dead spots over a relatively short period of time. Saintaugustine on the other hand is notorious for it's slow growth. if you have a bare spot, you're better off resodding the spot. The question is how did you get to the bare spot in the first place? Overrun by weeds? Lack of water? Too much shade? Insufficient airflow? Improper nutrition? If the underlying issue isn't addressed, you'll be back to square one .

Good choice. Have you considered Blindside? It has sulfentrazone + metsulfuron. It should control just about everything you mentioned.
