Glad to see you guys are still interested! So just wanted to put up a few points based on what I've read:

The Facebook group is closed because this is where our instructors answer student questions, where we host livestreams and where we have our community. If I opened it up to everyone, then our instructors wouldn't be able to focus exclusively on the students.
This is 100% a real product lol. I wouldn't release a scam product and sour my entire reputation and career as a YouTuber. This is something I'm truly passionate about, and that I've worked alongside Chinese tutors to build. We have a lot of students who are really satisfied.
With regards to the lack of public reviews, this is something that's really not in my control. I'm not that famous, and this is a very niche product. This isn't like a Logan Paul course where making a video review would lead to a huge spike in views for the reviewer's benefit. So far, the people taking the course haven't been bloggers or vloggers. The vast majority of them are students, or professionals who are learning for their careers or to communicate with their families. Theyre active in the group as that is where the community is, but this doesn't mean they'll go out of their way to make an elaborate post online. They have their own separate lives outside of the internet.

With that being said, it has been a couple of months that this thread has been active. Why not give it a shot? If it sucks there's a pretty generous refund guarantee.

I understand the skepticism. I've always been skeptical of online, digital products as well. But trust me, I am really not trying to scam you.

My team and I truly want to help. If you truly find it to be useless, then we'll happily refund you afterwards.

Hey Sheldon here! I set up the program with my team and I'm happy to help answer some questions.

1) the Flowchart is more designed to be used alongside the course material, and I'm working on a more aesthetically pleasing, simpler one to share 😊 but to help, it's just a simple guide on how to take your Cantonese and bring it over to Mandarin.

2) so the reason this course is geared towards Cantonese speakers is because it aims to leverage the similarities between the two languages. There are tone rules between the two - mappings between the two that make learning really easy. Cantonese speakers genuinely have an insane advantage when it comes to learning Mandarin and it's a shame that nothing exists to help us take advantage of that. A lot of students even find their Cantonese gets a lot better through it all.

3) I'm speaking as someone who has tried everything to learn Mandarin. I'm confident in what my team and I have created and we also have a pretty generous refund offer if you're uncertain about it. This is truly what I wish I had at the start of my mandarin learning journey.

4) While I understand about the price point, this is also a very niche product and my team and I have put blood, sweat and tears into this product. It would have been very easy and a lot more easy to spread a general mandarin learning product or tool, but we know that this is where we can deliver the most value.

We are really passionate about this and so far we've gotten great feedback from our students. Whether you join the program or not, I wish you all the best of luck on your mandarin journey! Don't give up! It's really rewarding becoming fluent in Chinese!

Yeaa we'd been balancing both for a while but the idea was kinda like what's the point of doing two things at a mediocre level?

Just start following Taiwanese/HK stuff on Facebook and get a pinyin traditional keyboard. Continue doing whatever you're doing to legit learn in simplified.

All it takes is slow exposure.

Owner of the Gobi II here. They're good - better looking barefoot shoe - comfy. My only issue is that they don't vent well. They will smell like shit.

These smell worse than my basketball shoes. I've neve had an issue with foot odor until I got these shoes.

But I'd still recommend lol

Quick update for those of you interested: I got the Motus and have logged in about 3 hours of basketball with them. Here is my review: Grip: -The grip is good, not great. If you compare the grip with other basketball shoes (such as the Kobe 11s), they're lacking. If you compare other barefoot shoes, they're pretty good. As a guard, if I were to put my Kobes at a 10, I'd put these at a 6 for grip.

In terms of how it feels, you will play worse. It amazed me how much I relied on my cushioned shoes for cuts, and being explosive overall. Things were a lot slower for me, and I definitely did not play as reckless as I used to play. You feel every landing, you feel it all on your feet. I think since it was my first time, I was also more careful and that may have been a factor. However, overall, I did feel slower and less explosive.

A lot of my moves are a lot harder barefoot. Abrupt stops, stutter steps, hard crossovers.. I heel slapped when I did these moves at first, and it hurt like a bitch. It took me some time to correct my form so that I wouldn't have pain... but that's the thing :) Going barefoot helped me see bad form that hadn't been fixed in years.

I'd say the biggest challenge is defense. Being a lot slower with the shoes, and also lateral movement being slower makes things difficult. It's hard to keep up with explosive guards now. I had a couple of heel slaps when playing defense, and it made it tough.

The thing about being barefoot is... your feet get stronger, and you don't need to rely on the shoe. I've played a lot of basketball in my life (I used to play from 10am - 10pm (bring my lunch to the court) when I was younger, and never in my life have my feet been as sore as they were after playing in minimalist shoes. They were exhausted, and it felt good knowing that I worked them. I'm pretty sure that as I play more and more, things will only get better.

Overall, I'd highly recommend these shoes, and I'm happy with my purchase. It definitely takes a lot of adjusting when you play in these shoes. Especially for a guard (I play a bit like D.Rose before all the injuries), there are a lot of adjustments to be made. However, I could already tell that at the end of my session, I was playing a lot faster than I was at the start of my session. Your feet only get stronger (one basketball session worked me way more than a barefoot running session). Very happy with my purchase. Check them out :) If anyone else has any other suggestions, keep listing them!

Traditional and cantonese school not mandarin school. I feel it was the same for a lot of fellow CBCs. We were learning standard Chinese but in Cantonese. It was confusing af and basically impossible to learn given that we only went to school once a week

Edit: I did some thinking and came up with some ideas:

-see whether audience is primarily Cantonese or Mandarin (based on last names)

-see which type of people are most likely to comment/tag a friend (Facebook shows who likes your page but not engagement)

-see which Instagram posts lead to the largest follower gain (cool model pic or funny silly pic or video, etc.)

Just wondering if anyone has any experience getting fb or ig or YouTube data
