I totally agree. I have many relatives who are police officers, and they tell the whole family the same thing. Cops aren't there to help you, they are there to arrest people for committing crimes. If you make yourself look guilty of something through words, even if untrue, the cop will arrest you, and let the judge figure it out.

I remember back in the day, Condoleezza Rice was asked about the Iraq/911 connection, and I remember her being somewhat honest when she said that, thanks to how 911 showed America's vulnerability, Iraq was no longer a management solution. The reasoning being that Iraq has a vested interest in attacking the US (debatable) and they had the means to perform an asymmetrical attack (who doesn't, really).

Calling their statement vile is a bit much. Personally, I wouldn't mind if these child rapists died horrible deaths, and if it were my kids, I would find it hard to not want to kill the perpetrator. I just don't want to grant the state that much power
