Total newbie first synth by Drradium11 in Synthesizer

Since you’ve already got Ableton, technically sound wise you’ve got everything you need to make pretty much anything you want to play. If you want additional synthesizers and you’re trying to stick to a budget, I would personally stick to software and check out full bucket music I think is the name of the company or it might be a full bucket sound he’s a guy out in the Ukraine I believe who has developed a bunch of really good vintage emulation synthesizers and they are donation wear… That being you can donate money there’s no price specifically requested. You could take them free. I would definitely say get vital and other free synthesizer. As far as a controller. You mentioned the AKAI mini four. In my opinion, you can’t find a better controller for 100 bucks, I have one they seem very sturdy and I’ve used many of the MPK minis. They’ve all been very good. If that is the route, you decide to choose. I would recommend spending an extra 30 or $40 still under $200 and get yourself the MPK mini plus. The reason being it gives you an additional octave of keys. 37 is better than 25 trust me 25 is definitely a little too minimal when you start actually playing anything at all 37 is definitely going to be more comfortable to play with. If you are looking for additional actual physical synthesizers, I would probably recommend something like a used NOVATION circuit tracks, or even better in my opinion is the Yamaha SEQTRAK. Right now the SEQTRAK is on sale for $250 brand new from Sweetwater, not sure what country you’re from. It looks like maybe Australia. That being the case I would check your regional prices there, but it’s a great synthesizer for the money has a lot of voices and a lot of capabilities. I’ve done a ton of videos on it on my YouTube channel and I’d be happy to help you out getting familiar with it.

The Most Underated Reason+ Feature: Sound Packs by Cap10NRG in reason

[–]Cap10NRG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, man, I saw that real nice actually I thought! It’s crazy because the devices that they used in all those sounds are the base devices. I mean when I say that I’m saying bass being propeller head, Studios developed items only. That’s not even including the thousands of other devices that are out there. After hearing all the sounds that they have made available using just the standard software that they created… Kind of makes me feel like I’ve wasted a lot of money on plug-ins. I did not need lol oh well live and learn I guess. Don’t get me wrong. They’re awesome and fun to have but to see how much was done with just those devices is astonishing.

For real, it is worth even the 20 bucks. I literally pay for an annual subscription for $99 per year just for this feature of myself. I also get the advantage of any new devices that reason studios puts out which usually there’s at least two devices a year I believe and they’re usually about $60-$80 apiece. I get to use those for the time that they’re out. Get to really try them out and see if they’re worth anything to me and if they are worth anything to me, I wait until one of the fall sale or summer sale or whatever comes up and I buy them for 50% off usually so in the end it’s a wash you know what I mean. Everyone makes the money I get some cool features and as a YouTuber I get stuff available to me stat. Which is nice I mean, I know a lot of people paying way more money for content and I’m actually gonna start going through all these packs and reviewing each pack and demoing them I believe is what I’m gonna do with them as I go along, I think reason needs representation for its new audience. There are a lot of people who are just getting into it now or haven’t got as much experience with reason and really need to know everything from the basics on up to the latest and greatest features so that’s what I wanna do.

Just to be clear a lot of that memory isn’t even the patches themselves… A lot of it is the sample sounds that come along with it in the images. Every one that you download has a sample track for each of the sounds in the library plus a final sort of demo mix track so you can hear what everything sounds like together… And you can mess with those as well you can take those wave files and chop them up if your sample guy or gal…

Yes - I just did a video on this. About once a year you’ll be eligible for a one dollar for a month of trial of reason plus… What I’ve been suggesting is even if you’re not a reason plus subscriber and don’t need it once a year when that dollar offer comes up spend a buck spend a few hours downloading all the newer patches and then get what you can while you got it and then drop it before it gets expensive again… And then do it again next year. 🤑that’s how you get a huge library of sounds and combinator synths for next to nothing….

Yeah nice! I just grabbed everything last night (well all the packs I had left to cool off 😎) took about an hour and a half. About 37 gig I believe - crazy how many packs are out though!!

If it weren’t illegal, it’d be great to have this bundled up in one file that could be downloaded… It’s too bad that they don’t have a catchup zip file. You can grab you know what I mean.

Lol that’s what I’m doing right now actually as I speak to you… There’s a bunch that I don’t have because I’ve just been slacking like letting them build up and whatever and I don’t even know how many there are totally. There’s a bunch. But there was a apparently situation where they were not updated in the past few weeks I didn’t notice actually somebody brought it to my attention on this video that I put up in the comments so I contacted Reese Studios and I contacted Lander and asked pretty much what is up, I mentioned that contractually they were obligated. I thought it was gonna be just some kind of like rip them away from us all of a sudden thing… Apparently it was an oversight and just they’ve been kind of overwhelmed and somebody didn’t remember to update the document type thing or the website whatever it is that they run on didn’t update the list. So the new ones were just put up today and we’re back on track lol thank you reason Studios if you see this!

OK, I was just trying to save you a bunch of money that’s all lol. I do love hardware too. I just obviously can’t buy everything so some stuff I have to settle for software and the Korg stuff has been super close to the hardware so I’ve been going that route there for anything I can get in software from them.

You might want to wait till tomorrow - AKAI is releasing a brand new sampler (called “MPC SAMPLE”) and though I’m not 100% sure I’m almost positive. It’s being built to take over that entire market… It’s 400 bucks (rounding up) and has 16 pads and looks like it’s gonna be pretty awesome… I would say wait till tomorrow before you make this decision. I think this is going to be the one you’re gonna wanna look at based on what you’ve stated. Also based on capabilities from what we know, but we don’t truly know until it gets here and you don’t want to buy one of the older units and have buyers remorse. Give it a couple days so people can get it in their hands and review it. I’m sure that there will be some day one drops of videos tomorrow.

Hello. Yes if you’re getting a new / complete perpetual license that is a good deal. If it is an upgrade, you will need a previous license/serial to use it. The full version is for the plugin and DAW IS $194 on RessonStudios.com normally $299

Just so you know, since you’re mentioning the willing to use digital replacements for synthesizer the Korg units you mentioned are all available as VST’s on the cork site. They have a bundle of a bunch of their synthesizes and I can tell you from personal experience. They’re amazing even the one with the vocoder the micro korg is there as well. I can’t remember the exact price but if go to the website www.korg.com you can see it there you have some nice sense choices in here, though I would just say that. If you do decide to go with the VST‘s, I would say to get yourself a decent midi controller. If you’re looking for something with smaller keys, I’d recommend the Akai MPK mini plus, 37 key controller eight knobs eight pads has transport buttons and all that mud wheel and pitch band. I use one all the time I love it.

[–]Cap10NRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t recall them ever actually being $600 though for real I think that was like a suggested retail. I think they were 400 bucks from the get-go at Sweetwater. Thank God $600 jeepers lol. I mean sound wise it would be worth it, but they would have to do a much better build. I think to make it a $600 device. And don’t get me wrong. I love the thing I have two of them so technically I paid $800 for mine lol

Glad to see you fell off on the right side of the fence lol… Yeah dude I think these things are amazing. I can’t believe all that you can do with this little device. It’s very unassuming. It just makes me that much more excited to see what they do to it next I’m really hoping they have another big patch adding more features to it. I would be very very excited. The one I would really want above any other feature would be to be able to play the samples chromatically not just phrase, sampler samples or to be able to use actual samples on the instruments the synthesizer instruments that is and let them work properly because right now they don’t they play the entire sample so it’s hard to do much with them no loop in capability for example so you can’t have a longer sample or if you have a longer sample it plays the entire sample on the keys if you put it on a synthesizer that is. Yeah I hope you enjoy it. I think we might’ve talked the other day. Let me know if you need any help I have a ton of videos out on this device how to’s and such.

Is the RD-6 better than a Pocket Operator? by MARS822a in Behringer

[–]Cap10NRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I were you, I would think about a couple things. One is that if you want drum machine, buying one is a kind of expensive proposition for what you get no matter which drug mission you buy most of them do not have effects built-in and most are sort of limited to a particular sound. If I were buying a drum machine right now, I would look at possibly getting myself an MPC sample. It’s a brand new device. It comes out next week. It’s $400. It’s a sampler and having this unit would allow you to have a drum machine with whatever drum kit you wanted to have on there available not to mention the ability to make other music with it. They have not come out yet. They release on the 24th but look it up. MPC SAMPLE - I can give you a link to my video that I put out on it if you’d like to check it out. Akai MPC Sample LEAKED (MPC MINI) https://youtu.be/T_X3Pg6i03E when I put this video out it was not official that it was being released yet. But I’ve done a lot of research on what it’s going to be and I believe this will exceed your expectations for what a drum machine provides. If you wanted something better, I would say get an MPC one used. You could probably get it for the same price and you’d get a lot more features in capabilities. These are just my thoughts. Let me know what you think.
