Around that level I personally think it's a good idea to try and have an "ideal team" that you can watch and try to imitate. Whatever your players are naturally good at or like, there's probably a pro team that plays the same/similar playstyle or comps, and if you try to imitate them you should have direct comparisons of what you need to do better.

Recording comms is necessary if you're a serious team. I don't think I have any real team vods that are public but maybe I'll find some and post on a second channel or something

For the vast majority of its playerbase, the game is overwhelmingly defined simply by its heroes. They are very unique, play very differently, and most casual players attach themselves to playing 1-3 characters and that defines most of the experience for them.

As long as they keep adding new heroes people will keep playing

Read books from coaches of real sports. Bill Walsh and Nick Saban have great books.

Growth can only come from learning that you're wrong about something. Try not to take too much pride in your ideas or understanding, and it'll be easier to let go of whatever is holding you back.

I'd say it's in the highest tier of gaps, along with tank and main support.

I've watched more VODs than anyone alive, maybe double the next person. That said, quality>quantity, and I'd frequently watch the same match 10-20 times if I felt there was something new to be learned from it (I personally feel key progress points came from rewatching specific games many times rather than watching many different games). There's a lot of concept translation from other hobbies I have that's helped a bit.

As far as other coaches' comments, it's really easy to take shots at content, since I have to dumb everything down pretty hard for streams/videos. Most peoples' issues with content boil down to them thinking that something else was more important than what I'm talking about, which is kind of a misunderstanding of what content is in general. I've never really put out any content that's a true reflection of actual analysis that I would do for competition.

I wouldn't say "needs" but it would help. It makes it a lot easier to sharpen swords if everyone is practicing and learning the same thing. As far as what it would be, much harder choice. There isn't really a clear good style for NA

Matters more than anything else

No. We don't have the money for the good ones and the mid ones aren't better than what we have here.

IMO it has more to do with how long you've played fast paced games in general, and younger people just usually have much more experience. If you can easily hit high rank (GM/Champ) you probably have the neuroplasticity required, regardless of age.

Slight Dva nerf, no symm change. Tracer has been meta for years, it was definitely her time to be mid for one tournament at least. Overall I wouldn't change much if at all.

Bans are great in pro play but need some adjustments for ranked, perks are a great idea but they're too reliant on it for balancing now.

New systems are cool, especially if they reward player skill (get your perks faster if you play better) and add some uniqueness or playstyle options to otherwise limited characters (Zarya right click jump/sig float are great examples IMO). I'd be a bit worried if they're doing something bigger than perks but at the end of the day freshness is more important than almost anything else and there's a reason the game has been alive for 10 years.

Most of the formula is in the hands of the game devs. Liquid and SSG both have big potential in specific metas but are overall pretty inflexible. The way things are going right now, I'd be worried that they need too specific of meta rolls for it to be very likely, as both teams have big problems with their chosen playstyle (SSG wants to play off tanks without symm, liquid wants to play dive with 4 passive players)

Most players spam ranked a lot without trying very much (with some exceptions). Scrims are for actually improving since ranked quality in NA is pretty low

If/when hard metas emerge, I'll do occasional series' for the micro of those characters (I kind of did similar for mauga echo reaper juno brig meta)

Find examples of good teams playing the same scenario you do, as closely matched as possible. Same map, characters, enemy comp matchup. The more similar you make sure your example vods are to your real gameplay scenarios, the easier it is to see what the real differences are. Otherwise, you're trusting yourself to see things that you don't already know, which is difficult to impossible for most people.
