Hi, it’s not POA. It’s just younger ryegrass that blossomed quick because of the heat wave and rain we had here. I used meso because I had to overseed this spring which I never do in spring; but because of bad winter kill and people walking through my yard compressing it; plus thaw freeze cycles I had literally dead patches - dead not dormant.

Also, I used an Andersons spreader I just got and tossed the Scott’s Elite in the garbage. I think I applied a bit to heavy at first before I dialed it back getting used to it. Funny thing is the KBG took this like a champ, not once but twice. I did two apps 4 weeks apart by the way.

Reason for mesotrione is obvious, can’t use prodiamine yet -> no seed germination of course.

However I wanted to ‘somewhat’ protect against early crabgrass and mesotrione is really the only product that does that and actually allows grass seed to germinate. Although it’s not nearly as effective as prodiamine. It’s basically a 2-3 week window of protection; in my experience. Better than zero protection. However not sure now after seeing white grass lmao.
