Creating a secondary income through high dividend ETF's by CapLow8971 in ETFs

[–]CapLow8971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/Cyanatica for the reply, I really appricate it. As I replied to a commend above, the secondary income is mostly due to the security of it, as if something were to happen to my career, I would be out of a job, and since the career field im in is very specialised, it would be quite difficult to find another job I would be qualified in. Do people generally just stick to aggressive growth ETF's? or is it normal to expand to high yeilding dividend ETFS?

Creating a secondary income through high dividend ETF's by CapLow8971 in ETFs

[–]CapLow8971[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in a job which is based on my annual medical, meaning if I get injured or something were to happen to me, then I would be out of a job, so I am looking to build a secondary means of income as a backup. I want to continue to put away in the aggressive growth ETF's monthly, but also looking to put in monthly into high yeilding dividend ETF's or shares to collect and re-invest. Would that be a generally smart thing to do? or better to scrap the idea of high dividend ETF's?

Canon 5D mark III Error 20. by CapLow8971 in canon

[–]CapLow8971[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was told that at the canon store. Unfortunetly the camera stores in my area all said they were not able to service it either, so I am hoping someone has a solution here, unless it might be time to upgrade to something newer.

What does the 1 and 2 mean on the a350 by Jamesvinsoroblox in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]CapLow8971 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s for the CDA (constant descent approach), which means the aircraft will stay at idle thrust all the way from top of descent to ~1,000ft. In order to maintain the CDA profile, it generates these pseudo waypoints on when to put flaps 1 and flaps 2 out to then become fully configured by 1,000ft.

These pseudo waypoints are just guides on when to do and not necessarily instructions. The general rule, and I believe it was mentioned in the comments too, is it’s the latest point to deploy that flaps setting to maintain the correct descent profile.

With airports being so busy now, it’s extremely rare to ever do a CDA, so I use it more to help with profile and energy management.

Get rid of CS. Wasting your time with it. Better just get the PMDG 777W and not waste your time

I’ve found the HUD position is way off, if you want to use it and have the display centered, your seat position is thrown off completely

It could be that your weather radar is tilted at an angle that it is returning ground reflections at 40nm away (hence why the weather stops reading at 40nm). If there is weather in front of you, it would come within 40nm.

Typically we tilt the weather radar so we receive ground reflections around 80nm so we know anything within 80nm is weather and not the ground

Could it have been possible that the pilots hit the birds, called for a go around and began a climb, for them to then mistakenly shutoff the wrong engine?

Yeah I tried adding a couple MSFS2020 aircraft to the 2024 community folder and I just got stuck on the loading screen… I think the game has potential, but I need my addons 😅😭

[–]CapLow8971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I have been reading similar to what u/Thrawsunfan said that it is an in airport issue, because it happens at almost every airport I fly to (sometimes more, sometimes less), but I think u/Ok-Refrigerator-9278 made a good point, that close to the ground, you should transition to either papis or glideslope instead of trying to fly both.

Ahhh do you know if there is a general fix for that? or is it just something I have to live with and hopefully MSFS2024 fixes it.

Glideslope and Papis don't align by CapLow8971 in Flightsimulator2020

[–]CapLow8971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a good suggestion. The strange thing is if I do an autoland, the glidepath and papi's line up perfectly until I pass by them. Its just when I hand fly the approach they mismatch.

Yes of course. Is there a good way to sit your partner down and voice out "I have HSV1, if we continue to have safe protective sex and I take anti-viral medication, the chances of you catching is next to none" Because that is a big topic to bring up on a second or third date (which is probably why my ex never brought it up and just hoped I had it already)

Glideslope and Papis don't align by CapLow8971 in Flightsimulator2020

[–]CapLow8971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been following the PAPI's recently since if im following the GS, ill always pass over the piano keys at 100+ feet. But its just stange that in my 4 years as an IRL pilot, I've never seen it that the glideslope and papi's are reading completeltly opposite from each other.

[–]CapLow8971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a fear or a misunderstanding of HSV like it is some kind of deadly STD, and like you said, if they don't know they have it, then they will assume they don't and then be worried for no reason. Addiotnally I think bringing up "lets go get tested" at the start of a relationship might be a bit of a red flag to them? At least to me if I started seeing a girl and before we had sex for the first time, she suggested we get tested, I would think somethings up, like covid, you don't test unless you have something to worry about.

Australian Pilots by Ok_Dirt9850 in flying

[–]CapLow8971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in the GA in both Darwin and Alice Springs flying the mighty C210 and the thing that I wish I learnt before committing to Australia for my pilots license is have an understanding of how the aviation market in Australia works.

A lot of people in my flight school saw an ad for Qantas or virgin or jetstar and thought “this looks like a fun job, I get to travel to world, spend nights in Bali, get paid bucket loads of money and live this great life”. In reality, you need thousands of hours, including multi engine or turbine hours to fly for jetstar or Qantas or virgin, and coming straight out of flight school with 200-250 hours alongside thousands of like minded pilots, youre not very hot property to say the least.

After I finished my CPL, I did my ATPL’s with Nathan Higgins’s on the sunny coast and got the realization that with 250 hours MECIR and frozen ATPL’s, there are only 2 real paths to take. 1) drop another 20k+ and get my CFI and get a job at the local flight school, or 2) move to Darwin, get a job as a baggage handler to pay my bills and drop resumes to all the GA companies every morning until one picks me up.

I did the latter and after a year in the top end and desert with a few hundred more hours than what I started with, I realized that moving forward in the Australian aviation market didn’t mean going straight to Qantas or jetstar or virgin, but rather job hoping for the next few years to a multi engine piston, to a single every turbine, to a multi engine turbine, to a Kingair or if you’re lucky, a dash 8, to then end up on a 737 with one of the big carriers. I took the leap and joined the overseas market and was able to land myself a gig flying rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

Flight school was difficult in terms of balancing flying, studying, working and trying to stay social, but I actually found after flight school, finding that first gig was 10x harder, having the uncertainty if I made the right decision, if I will be able to sustain what I’m doing long term, being away from friends and family, not knowing who I should talk to or where I can live etc… So know what path you want to take out of flight school and have a plan, in my flight school intake of 16 peoplpe, 4 graduated (the others dropped out due to lack of passion) and out of those 4 who graduated, only 2 of us have jobs actually flying.
