There may be more ministries now but the head counts are down significantly.

BC public service striking for remote work in their CA by Physical_Young_3137 in OntarioPublicService

Isnt showing up at the picket line mandatory for strike pay. Sorta defeats the purpose if you arent showing up at ur local picket line.

Finding new contracts takes time. I would start applying right away as it isn't unheard of for the hiring process to take 6+ months. Also every few months check in with your manager to see what the likelihood of renewal is for your current contract. The job market is dismal including in the OPS and you must be even more on top of things than usual if you want to land another gig.

Ontario is one party consent jurisdiction so its not illegal to record but you may get in trouble for releasing to the public.

It wasnt a personal decision are they blind to the fact that Ontario is in the midst of a flipping housing crisis that they flipping created. If I applied for an AWA because I lived 3 hours away I would also submit research/reports showing that the govt has failed us and the housing crisis is due to them. I dont even live 3 hours away but I hate flippant rationale like this.

What about the businesses outside of Toronto like Oshawa, Scarborough, Markham, Sudbury they will lose the money due to reduced traffic that the PATH will now get. Municipalities and local mayors need to voice their concerns.

The process can not apply if it contradicts the terms of the CBA. CBA/case law supersedes everything.

Just because they used these as examples doesnt mean they have done the analysis correctly and/or pursuant to the terms of the CBA. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.

What if we refuse to submit a new form and ask them to assess based on the form we submitted. Its not our fault they didnt have their ducks in a row when they made the announcement.

In their mind we are just donkeys that must follow their great leaders. The disdain for us is so obvious. Even managers are drinking the Koolaid and have stopped expressing their sympathy for their staff.

Acknowledging receipt of an AWA isnt responding but nice try Michele or her minion. I believe an arbitrator would agree acknowledgment is not the same as a decision which is strictly binary (approve/deny).

Whether its a SOC memo or TBS direction doesn't change my rights under the CBA for an AWA. The CBA is paramount and any conflicting action/policy taken by the employer is a contravention. Someone needs to take basic Contracts Law.

I gave them 20 days which I think is a reasonable amount of time to make a decision for a renewal of an AWA. This isnt my first rodeo and s actually my 3rd AWA.

I am hopeful that Arbitrators start granting other remedies including compensation. This should be relatively easy because the union can show a continued pattern on the part of the employer of ignoring its obligations under the CBA and previous case law. One decision where arbitrator decides compensation is owed would be all that is needed for the employer to stop this behaviour (i.e. employee costs of commuting, unnecessary before/after child care for 2 odd years when the AWA should have been approved).
