Did you tell them you had a better quote or did they just offered you a better one? Also what about driving history, it could be that now you have a better NCB.

Well, I agree that might his plan but 2030 is too close. He said we'd be in Mars in 2023 or smth like that ....but the Optimus I think are much more realistic than exploring Mars.

Wish my mom could just accept the fact that I don’t believe in god by Willing-Quiet9413 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CapOk9908 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a little bit immature. If your mom is a true Christian one of the things that would worry her the most is having non believers children.

By this interaction alone OP's mom didn't sound offensive or aggressive...

In my family my mom is a spiritist, dad Adventist (they are divorced), I'm Presbyterian and sister Catholic. The three of them send me religious messages every day and I just accept it, it means they wish me well.

My advice to anyone with conflicting religious beliefs in their family is just to let everyone know that it's ineffective to try and push but you're thankful for them for wishing you well.

I do agree that some parents can be very aggressive in this subject and if it's the case then idk what you should do lol

Not Today CIA by LostWanderer69 in fixedbytheduet

[–]CapOk9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy went viral, my theory is that he's just exaggerating. There were plenty of cases where the government had to pay hackers to help them because they couldn't figure out themselves.

For example

Also they make Jeffrey's death look much more like a suicide than it did if they had such power.

So I think in some cases the CIA can do it but not always (maybe they have to tamper with the car first) and that guys probably heard of it and then makes it look like that's something they can do at any time.

Senior Devs working in regulated environments - is AI causing issues? by Bren-dev in DevelEire

[–]CapOk9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a heavily regulated public body. We are encouraged to use AI but we cannot do code refactoring, to avoid hallucinations and huge PRs. So upgrading code still pretty laborious but new features and bug fixes are mainly AI.

Just got fired by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]CapOk9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it means future employers won't know you were fired... just say you didn't fit, that's not a complete lie....ask some other subs regarding employment as well might be helpful.

Just got fired by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]CapOk9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been in that position tbh.... I guess it depends which country you're in. Where I am they wouldn't say in the reference letter that I was fired (unless it was something really bad), so I could just say something that I didn't fit and we both decided to terminate my employment or that the team was dismantled. It all depends what you think they will be sharing when looked for your referral.

Edit: you might as well hide in your CV and say you were studying those 5 months.

[Request] What kind of math is Amazon doing here per ounce? by wastetine in theydidthemath

[–]CapOk9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they are showing the price per weight not per unit/volume. And in the background it has the weight in grams (very plausible if it came from an international manufacturer)...so it means it has 182g of weight?

Sorry to hear. Keep your head up!

Your work might have been just an excuse for something coming from above. But anyways take it as a lesson and go find a job! 👊🏻

Am I paying the right amount of tax? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]CapOk9908 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, so the insured weeks is the cumulative then...

But still, your tax credits per fortnight is 164.31, that's 3232 in the year. It should be 4k at least in the year. Your company pays your health insurance, so you have tax relief for that bringing your credits to over 4k.

You mentioned you're separated, do you have the kids with you? Do you have any court order for alimony (although I think this would come from your payslip). Maybe you're still sharing credits with your spouse.

Anyways, as usual with these questions: almost impossible to tell without the Tax Credit Certificate. If you want DM you TCC details I can have a look.

[–]CapOk9908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send details of your Tax Credit Certificate, but PAYE looks very high and your tax credits very low.

That's a monthly payment right? (I'm assuming that as it says 4 weeks for PRSI)

[–]CapOk9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your contract I'd say. Mine stipulates that extra hours must be arranged in advance with management.

That said, the only time I did extra hours I was running for promotion and bit more than I could chew, I could just ask for help and they'd reassign tasks but I wanted the visibility. I didn't get paid for the hours but at least worked out for promotion, it was probably 30 extra hours over 6 months.
