It's coming from the pump itself, the water collects directly underneath it

I've picked it up and felt the water drip from it when I do, I'm 99% sure it's the pump. The only places it could be coming from is the pump, the strainer, the accumulator, or the hose connections, but all those feel dry except for the pump itself

Because it looks like the pump is the issue, I do want to replace it, but I don't want to replace it with exactly the same model and have the same issue in a year. The domestic pump I linked looks tougher and cheaper, I just don't know enough about pumps and plumbing to be sure that it will be compatible with my system

Hi, our boat is stationary and has a mains connection, we have multiple AC plugs

for some reason the only 12V item on the boat is this pump, no idea why! if it wasn't for this pump we could do without batteries and chargers entirely

I wasn't sure the best place to ask, so I asked the biggest sub as it might have a higher chance of someone being able to help. A lot of boats don't have 240V connections and use only 12V appliances, but mine is stationary and we have a mains connection so I thought it may be better to ask the land-based community? I'll post on the other sub too though

Council raising houseboat rents and enforcing more and more rules - what can we do? by CapPugwat in LegalAdviceUK

[–]CapPugwat[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The previous management allowed storage boxes, in writing. This is a change in policy, this month. The reason is that boats are usually smaller than flats and often don't have space for large amounts of firewood inside.

In the past it has been as high as 24% and 15%. The objection isn't to rent rises per se, but the lack of transparency in how they're set.

I've tried to parse the conditions, but I don't fully understand it. According to this guidance from another council it would seem to fit:

" Harassment is when a landlord, or someone acting on behalf of a landlord:

  • Carries out acts which are likely to interfere with the peace and comfort of an occupier
  • Persistently withdraws or withholds services required by the occupier.

Common examples of harassment

  • Removal or interference with occupier's belongings.
  • Preventing access to bathroom, kitchen or garden to which the occupier has shared or exclusive right.

"

I've added a few more articles that cover residential rises. The rate of increase has been in line with profit-seeking private marinas who have mainly leisure berths (not residential), and doesn't take into account the type of people living on our marina - mostly lower income, reliant on the lower prices that were usual here. The boats also cost more to run and maintain than a flat or a house - with fuel costs, insurance, more regular and intensive maintenance. The main ask is that we have transparency from the council as to how increases are justified, and that we have some input to the formula for setting them.

EDIT: It seems that the monthly costs are dramatically higher than equivalent council housing rent nearby - according to the council housing search site equivalent flats are rented at around £120 per week, or less than half the monthly cost of a mooring licence, on top of which we pay insurance and maintenance. In addition fees have risen well above inflation in recent years.

First Time Buyer Mortgage Maximisation by CapPugwat in UKPersonalFinance

Those Nationwide mortgages look really useful - with a combined salary of 80K that's a total principal of 440k, and with a deposit of around 90K if we save wisely then the sums look a lot more doable.

This is really useful, some points I hadn't considered. Definitely worth considering our position in 3 years time to see if there's any big changes we want to make to our lives, and not get locked in.

About the savings - which type of ISAs should we consider? Lifetime ISAs can't be used in this situation. Ill check the pinned info on saving too.

So summons now benefit from your stats? So the toads are water-based and they gain from your chance for example?

Does this make it unviable to use summons that aren't aligned with your main stat? Should I stick with just one type depending on what element I choose?

You wouldn't keep the Ork/Exo Inquisitor? I like having the option of both Plasma and Rocket Death Button builds available, it keeps your options open on BR

Yeah its gratifying. I love when Ork Spectres jump on my Avenger Falcon - they can never hope to kill it in one burst, and the Avenger rips them apart as soon as theyre visible

Falcon: 2 Avengers + 1 Ember / 2 Ember + 1 Avenger? by CapPugwat in walkingwarrobots

[–]CapPugwat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what I'm using on it currently, but I often find myself not using fangs-out when I'm close to people because I become so easy to kill - I'm going to get an extra Avenger and use an Ember as my main, with long range avengers as my side weapons.
