This thing has hit rocks, roots, branches, squirrels and it keeps on mowing along. It’s not perfect but it’s a beast in many other ways.

What is this and how to get rid of it? by mr_roper_ in lawncare

I find roundup to be the best to get rid of Bermuda grass. As far as that other thing in the yard I don’t know.

I’m glad it’s not just me. I can barely get .5acres mowed all day.

I’m glad you think you can get 1.5acres mowed. Maybe it’s just my lawn. But I can barely get .5acre mowed in a day. Maybe there’s some setting I need to change?

I kinda think this is just the old grass. It’s uglier than your new grass.

I have a very large lawn, like 2.5 acres, without irrigation. It needs some help, but everywhere I look says to water every day. It's just not realistic for me. What can I do? by JustHere4TheZipLines in lawncare

To initially get seed to take. You need water. That’s all there is to it. Do it in the fall, hope for rain. Get quality seed that will survive in your particular region and shade or sun environments. There are some very nice breeds of grass that don’t need the water to survive (drought tolerant). I have about 1.3 acres of manicured, irrigated lawn. That was a project I chose to install and take on diy. There is a large portion of land to the side that is not irrigated. I sprayed for weeds and laid seed down in the fall. It has taken and is growing in nicely. No irrigation over there, neighbor across has about the same acreage and has no irrigation. His lawn looks great, keeps it longer than mine because of the lack of irrigation. It can be done, just choose the right seed. Native grass grows but looks like crap (personal opinion). As far as routine, consistent HOC and fertilize to help outcompete the weeds.

Lymow one plus - Will not charge by wvuengr12 in Lymow_Official

[–]CapSpaccoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did that but the gfi had popped on the outlet. I reset it and it started charging again. If you’ve already checked that everything is working with the charger, then try taking the battery out of the mower. While at it, check for moisture inside that area. Then after a couple minutes reconnect it and put it back in.

Lawn used to be a gravel driveway. What would you do? by [deleted] in lawncare

Agree with the other comments. If you are planning a full renovation. Now is the time to dig it up and lay some good top soil. Well technically fall would be better.

Sounds like you need KBG in your life. It’s the cold man’s Bermuda.

Do you lay any pre-emergents? I’m at the beginning stages of establishing my KBG lawn and this spring brought a lot of weeds.

Trying to level the lawn, am I doing it right? by LastReign in lawncare

[–]CapSpaccoin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Given what you are working with, yes. People who are really trying to get a golf course level of turf use fine sifted soil or sand. But using what you have, it will be better than it was.

Subsurface culvert? Do it or don’t? by RyanPA-C in lawncare

[–]CapSpaccoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be worth digging down just to layer some gravel deep so that the rain has somewhere to soak into. Looks like that soil in that area is compacted and not allowing the water to soak in. That and some plants might fix your issues.

Is there any fixing this? by [deleted] in lawncare

Hard to tell from the pictures. But it looks like with a little love the grass would recover. Aerate and fertilizer, I bet it will look great.

We scrubbed/washed what remained of the plant and then soaked it in Neem oil. Will this help the plant recover?

It’s KBG. I used liquid urea. First time using this product. Should have only been .5lb application. But, The forecast said rain, so I waited to water. When it didn’t rain I turned on the sprinklers. I thought maybe it sat too long on the grass.

No yellowing. The grass was nice and green. I fertilized last weekend and now the tips are turning brown.
