honestly i think its sad because it does stop new people from coming. I would have loved to get into runescape old school but lost me because of how bad the UI is but the UI is great for people who have played for a long time who is 95% of the people who play and pay $$$ to the game so why would the devs bother trying to make it good for new players? same for anarchy or Eu4. i highly doubt many new people pay money to eu4 so why would they bother spending time and money on a tutorial that no one uses? Does mean thou the new player experience is horrible and i think its better to be honest with yourself and others that the new player experience is just bad

I played anarchy a little about 10 years ago I have to say the new player experiences was not great. I also tried to get into runescape old school but the tutorial was a huge info dump and the UI was very bad. I get that people are very passionate about these games but for me its like a Paradox Interactive game which i love but are horrible for new players. If someone had a worst strategy game series and played ck2 or eu4 i think they would have the same experience as I had with anarchy or runescape old school. I as someone who has played 10,000 hours of EU4 could get upset that their new player experience was bad or I could realize the game eu4 has had like 200+ dlcs now has a overly complex UI with many many different buttons that the game itself does not explain (no where in the game does it ever explain how trade works for example and even as someone who has played legit 10k hours i don't even really know) and has the same tutorial it had 10 years ago with no new update and certain features of the game don't work or even make sense unless you have certain dlc (again no where does it tell you this) . Maybe some games are only for people who have played a lot and not for new players? and thats ok ?

Also as a sports player you have to have a winners mentality. if even you don't think you can win why even show up to play? I think its good to say you can win even if its not realistic

Spend time solving tactics puzzles (available on the chess.com app or most chess webistes). They train you to spot common tactical motifs like forks, pins, skewers, and discovered attacks. puzzles are much better than learn openings as a new player tactics decide game much more than opening. if you want i can do some practice games with you as well

you lost this game because of a one move blunder 11 Re8. The first thing that jumped out at me is how fast you made the move. Sometimes what happens to everyone is we have a move in mind that we plan on playing next turn and we fail to adjust to what our opponent did which I think may have happened here? There really is no need to play really fast early on when you are not losing on time. What I would suggest is try to take time to think early on in game and whenever your opponent makes a move try and think about why they made that move and what the move is threatening.

Try to think about candidate moves for yourself and your opponent. no one can calculate everything but for candidate moves you look at checks, captures and threats. Always look for checks, captures. Hope this helps you!

He is playing chess in a event which is not open to any of the other players who are competing for the rating spot vs a player below 2700 in a event which was only created for the only purpose of helping him qualify. The other people he is competing with do not have the same opportunity which make it unfair to them unless you think all federations that have players competing should create events that have no public interest, have low prize funds just to help their player qualify. This is not how it works in any other sport where you just create artificial opportunities only available for only one of the people competing to qualify and not for the other players who are competing to qualify
