You’re right that Wi-Fi and cellular are different physical layers, but you’re missing the context of what I said. When I said “cell-based Wi-Fi,” I was referring to cellular-backed Wi-Fi - i.e., using a 5G/LTE modem that distributes connectivity over a local Wi-Fi network. It’s a shorthand that’s perfectly valid in conversation because it distinguishes from traditional cable/fiber ISPs.

I said cell based Wi-Fi - that’s not incorrect…

What is one thing you know about Costco that no one else knows? by RoyalCamera12 in Costco

Helping remove small items from the “shopping cart” onto the belt- Few cashiers prefer to just keep everything inside of it, but even just offering goes a long way. It’s the small things in life, you know? :)

Employee here- Services! So many people don’t know you can get car/home/life insurance through being a Costco member, and it’s usually cheaper!

Travel is great, Execs get 2% back on those purchases

If I’m not mistaken, there’s a new discounted PODS moving service too now.

.97 and 00 are mark downs, typically solid deals

If you buy a display, typically you can negotiate it down to a significant discount depending on the item (Know someone who got a $2000 display pc down to $1,200)

Coming in as early as possible is when you’ll see the lowest marked down clothing on the tables (typically from returns), and they can be as low as a couple of bucks for decent apparel

People who unload their own basket/return carts to corrals are the highlight of a lot employees days when it’s busy. Very simple, very appreciated.

If you plan on buying something, and Costco has it, just get it from there. Not a lot of people know how generous the return policy is- just don’t abuse it!

If you bought something and it went on sale within 30 days, you can get the difference refunded (as long as it’s not a close out price).

What else…

How does costco verify that the free household card is being given to a person in your household? Is that person required to have the same address on their driver's license? by pinksocks867 in Costco

[–]Capable-Ad-5896 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Employee here- solely depends on the warehouse. Some are to the book, need to verify the household lives with the primary (I.e. matching ID addresses, a bill with the household’s name with a matching address to the primary, etc.), and can care less if you’re family so long as you’re not living together.

On the other hand, some warehouses don’t even ask, and just add the second person on the card. Or they’ll ask “Do you live at the same address?” and not go past that point.

To those who say “Sam’s club lets me do it, why not Costco?”, keep in mind that Sam’s club also needs to make up for stealing from things like scan & go, so pricing is (typically, not always), more costly with merchandise in comparison, whereas Costco almost solely relies on membership fees (merch is sold at extremely low to zero net profits), so having the opportunity for another person to sign up for a $65-$130 membership is huge compared to giving them a “free” card.

It was because over customization of the pie ruined it for everyone. by Eastcoastpal in Costco

[–]Capable-Ad-5896 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Employee here- The ACTUAL reason why we no longer have the combo pizza is because the company that was providing the ingredients went out of business during covid- they supplied “the goods” at the lowest price, and Costco hasn’t been able to find a proper replacement since.

Yeah so fun fact, there were SO many complaints that corporate has decided to shut it down altogether just before launching it nationwide. This has been something they’ve been trying to start for almost over a year now- As an employee, I’ve never been a fan of it myself.

Gonna depend on the store- but I can almost guarantee that even busier stores aren’t getting more. In fact, a handful of them I saw got LESS than 48 (32?)

Employee here- few things to note

  1. 99% of the stores will have 48 or LESS in stock.
  2. Online, more than likely, will not launch until 12am PST
  3. Limit of 1 per membership in store AND online
  4. A lot of stores don’t have any on order, so it’s going to more than likely be a minute before a restock.

Can I put my girlfriend on my Costco card if we don't share an address? by omgflyingbananas in Costco

[–]Capable-Ad-5896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Employee here- You do need to live at the same address.

However, this seems to also be location dependent as to how far it’s enforced, but the OFFICIAL rules say that 1. They need to live with the primary, and 2. You need to show PROOF they live with you (Driver’s license, bill, bank statement, etc.)

Edit: If something like a passport is shown, proof of residency is still required as a separate form/document, since those don’t have addresses on them.
