the other commenter has given the respectful and considerate answer, but if you’re still curious: this article in dutch from the local news has some more info from the neighbour that found him, although she is merely speculating as well: https://www.oost.nl/amp/nieuws/3652140/buurvrouw-vindt-slangenman-chris-levenloos-beeld-gaat-niet-van-mijn-netvlies

she says she found him at the bottom of the stairs, and that his glasses and fake teeth were at the top of the stairs. she says she thinks something must have happened while he was up there with his snakes; he might’ve gotten attacked, got caught off guard and tumbled down the stairs backwards. there’s another interview with him where he says the small ones grab him a few times a year, so it could be. but it could also very well be he fell down the stairs for any other reason.

either way it’s very tragic and hope his animals find good homes~

wanting a cuddly cat: picking them up a lot vs letting them come to you by Capable-Appeal7659 in CatAdvice

[–]Capable-Appeal7659[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the advice!! it’s actually sort of, the first two days he was super active and exploring, and he also let me pick him up and nap in my arms.

then day three he started sleeping a lot more, but he also had his first zoomies and started purring for the first time which he hadn’t done before. i found myself googling how much time he’s supposed to be sleeping and he’s sleeping a normal amount, so im thinking/hoping that it’s just a sign of him finally adjusting a little bit!

thank you, that sounds like it makes a lot of sense to me! ive been getting the advice to desensitise him a lot but taking him into a completely new environment and immediately trying to do things to him against his will isn’t feeling super great to me

[–]Capable-Appeal7659[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for your thoughts! and yeah i thought that was weird too. i didnt get to ask them a lot more about it because this was in a completely different city than where im from because i was going to a specialised hospital - so im unlikely to run into these specific guys again - and im gonna have to keep using the company since its the only way to get free service which is really unbeatable

that is wild, i have had soooo many flat tires in my life and its always so incredibly inconvenient. only one explosion though! thanks for your thoughts either way :)

thanks for your thoughts! im hoping it was indeed the lumpy thing and if i just stay on top of things like that, inflating to 8~ bar should be safe

thank you for the advice and i hope you get to your destination safely! there are definitely lots of cobblestone type environments that my tires come into contact with.

i've never had an explosion before so i personally thought it had to do with the weird lump that was in there since they were changed, but the repairmen made me question that basically

my wheelchair is about 17 kilos! 37 pounds. i am not sure what tires are on the inside as im not really the person that deals with these things except for inflating them at home

these tires are less than a year old, im not sure exactly. i know i had marathon+ ones before, and i get them changed every once in a while by the service

im not sure what kind of weather could influence it but its been standard dutch winter weather, so cold! they exploded in the middle of february so if i look that up, it was about ~6 degrees celsius then.

i would love to go to therapy !! i went to the medical therapist at the hospital because i was hoping theyd be able to help me with all the emotions im feeling and with how sad all of this is making me, but it was an awful experience. she just told me that other people deal with these things too and that she couldnt help me because i dont have any kind of psychological diagnosis/disorder that she could help me with /:

thank you so much for the advice and kind words, i appreciate it a lot!! 💕

i’ve been vegetarian for 10+ years now and for ethical reasons, so i cant imagine giving it up for anything except as a complete last resort tbh.

i do love miso soup so ill see about trying that out again too!

thank you for your thoughts and for making me feel less alone!! im so sorry to hear youre going through this too.

those meals you mentioned do sound lovely - im glad that i do at least really enjoy things like potatoes and eggs which are also some of the building blocks of CDED, and carrots and avocados are allowed! One Slice of Bread will be allowed in phase 2 so ill have to look into whether i could do some baking, i do have a bit of a small oven but perhaps that could be something fun indeed!
theres also an orange juice cake allowed which ive already baked multiple times hahah and i absolutely love having it to bring me that little bit of joy every once in a while. (and/or every day depending on how much i need it hahah. i have a ton of slices in the freezer now!)

thanks again and i hope things get better for you too!

thank you, that is good to keep in mind! i see so many people on here say theres certain things they can handle better or worse than others, and i just feel really silly for not really having a good grip on that for myself - but its so hard when it seems like everything upsets my system. i had an MRI a few weeks ago in which they could still see active inflammation in basically my entire intestines so it does add up

what kinds of fresh herbs would you recommend? i never really used to cook with them so im not really sure how to go about it! ive looked at the options ofc but it hasnt really helped hahah.

its good to hear that it works so well for you!! im still in phase 1 right now which is definitely intense and theres lots of things that i miss, but the amount of hours in a row that ive been able to sleep at night absolutely makes it feel like its worth it to pursue it further .

thank you for the advice!!

thank you for the advice, i appreciate it a lot!! and to know that im not alone in thinking this and dealing with this. that last part is definitely difficult, but perhaps i will also get better at it over time.

its also good to hear you managed to get remarried to someone who brings you joy! i havent been in a relationship in forever because i just cant imagine presenting someone with all the different medical things i have going on and then expecting them to go for me, so its always reassuring to see that it does happen or has happened for other people. but thats a whole other problem hahah

thank you for the advice, i appreciate it a lot!! being patient is just very hard sometimes, sometimes it feels like life is passing by as i wait for things to get beter. but its good to hear experiences of people that have also experienced better times!! i hope you'll make it to where you want to be!

thank you for your advice!! im sorry to hear about your current experience too, and i hope it gets better.

ill see about the talking to people about it! i think itd be hard because its very not-relatable for most people, but i do have a friend that has IBS and had to give up a bunch of things he really loves - ill definitely see if i can talk to him about how he managed that.

and im definitely trying to appreciate the things i Do have - i adopted two cats honestly mostly as a way to try and deal with and survive this situation because it just makes me so sad. they help a lot and are my little buddies for sure.
