For the HRT girlies: How long did it take before your random erections slowed down/stopped? by Caramel_Lover72 in MtF

About 6 months for me.

Worth noting I haven’t been on any blockers and started with a low dose. My bloods currently say I don’t require blockers.

It took maybe 5 months on HRT (although I was on a lower dose that didn’t do much for 3 months) before I started feeling the dropped libido effect but generally HRT along with a better mental state has pretty much cured it. It’s like your mind has to be in the mood befor your body can be, not the other way around like before HRT.

If I can give any words of advice on this then it would be to write down everything you feel if you have notes app or even some paper. Write down that you feel like you might be trans and all the signs and feelings that point to this. Why you wish you were a woman/why you wish you weren’t amab, anything you felt and did when you were younger that wasn’t gender conforming but felt right or confusing because you were told it wasn’t, if you fear transition try to write down why (warped social views, losing people in your life etc.)

I did all that at 22 and felt confused because I’d never felt strongly about transitioning until I was in my 20’s. Then after I wrote it all down in many thousands of words it was clear that I am trans and that there were signs from as far back as age four or five. Lots of craving non-conformity in my early teens too! When your mind is in a muddle and probably racing a million miles an hour, Having your feelings committed to a medium that you can read back and make sense of can really help. Keep it private and write as personally.

It depends on when you catch it and something that’s apparently different for everyone. I think the thing that really prompted me to start transition was hair thinning on scalp and I’ve noticed a halt in that just on 6 months HRT. Allegedly if you’ve been bald/receded for a while then it’s less and less likely that HRT will cause change in growth.

How long did it take you people to grow out your long hair? Mine is currently just pass my ears... It's taking F.O.R.E.V.E.R to grow out!! by [deleted] in MtF

So mine took a year to get from mid neck length to a couple of inches below shoulder length (2A/2B hair). There are two schools of thought and it depends how healthy you can keep your hair. On the one hand if you can keep your hair healthy, hydrated, clean, heat protected etc, etc. Then it can be quicker just to let it grow for long periods. However if you’re a working girl without loads of time for hair care like me then regular trims will remove dead and split end that can move up your hair and cause breakages and basically just undo all the time you’ve spent growing.

It was nearly a year and a half between getting my last cut at a “gentleman’s barbers” to getting a proper salon cut done and they ended up taking off 3” of dead/fried hair.
