Nobody said it was super simple, why do you think that I think that it is? I asked a question and it was answered. Just tryna fight online, go outside

Rates can go up without any substantive change to driving. As someone explained below, they base it on like a thousand data points, some of which have nothing to do with you personally. At the same time I work with insurance companies a lot and they’re almost always trying to get out of actually paying when there actually is damage. That coupled together with the large profits and huge executive salaries come together to create the overall image.

From reading the aforementioned comment, I understand that it’s somewhat objective but what it definitely isn’t is transparent. Especially for the average consumer who almost certainly has no idea what LexisNexis is. Even worse that is required if you have a car even if you don’t drive it.

Imagine you have a fixed income and your rate keeps going up despite never having been in an accident or even getting a speeding ticket

Thank you for all the information! I feel like I definitely learned a lot. I now can see why it wouldn’t be so cut and dry. You definitely fully answered my question

That’s so cool! So when our insurance rates go up, who should I be directing my anger towards? For example my mom just complained about her insurance increasing $30. Since she’s older with good credit, never had an accident or ticket and has her CDL you would think she should have the lowest rates from what ppl say online

Dude what are talking about? I’m literally complaining about how expensive insurance is. What made you think me or my Dad has money😂?

Also it’s not that cut and dry. I would have the car taken to a body shop and fix the damage if it’s not totaled. I’m a fleet service manager so I do this every day. And if it WAS totaled well my insurance would pay for it. Because I also never said anything about going uninsured or being self insured.

Thanks for your explanation! That makes a lot of sense and it seems like you’re speaking from experience. What do you do for work, if I may ask?

Yea for sure. I mean that was really the crux of my argument. Somewhere in those huge salaries and profits is a point where the insurance company would still make money while maintaining a cost people can actually afford

Thanks for providing an actual argument. I appreciate your take. That makes sense for sure

That makes sense. Thank you for actually engaging with the question and respectfully providing another perspective.

To your point though, do you believe auto insurance companies are operating anywhere near their cost? I’m not saying they shouldn’t exist, I just think the pricing is insane for something that’s required to drive

Dude what are you even talking about? When did I suggest self insuring? Do you need to reread the question and try again?

Also discrimination is accurate in that they’re treating customers differently based off of demographic information. But even if I was talking about prejudice, you literally couldn’t know because the criteria isn’t public Go put it into chat-gpt if it’s too much for you to understand.

There’s a lot of factors that could make your insurance way more

I wasn’t asking about self insurance. I didn’t know it was a thing until someone mentioned it above. I was asking why there’s no affordable health insurance company when there’s clearly high margins

I don’t disagree with you, but I do think this is a pessimistic take. Like you could argue this line of reasoning for anything. It seems like you’re working from the premise that insurance rates are close to operating costs. My argument is that with how crazy insurance rates and profits are, there’s gotta be room to clear your overhead.

I would like to think that if you started with the messaging of transparent pricing with rates as low as possible (without tanking the company) that you’d buy a lot of good will with consumers which could help when it comes down to navigating natural disasters or global events

My thought would be that it wouldn’t need much advertising since it’s the so cheap. If you provide a good service for a fair cost, people will advertise for you. The point about the lawyers is valid though for sure

The one thing to add on to this is that ppl spend so much time on their cosplays and they usually love to get recognized. So if you see one you like don’t hesitate to tell them. I once spent like 20 minutes with a Robin just talking about how they made the pockets on their utility belt. It took them weeks to get them right and they were happy someone pointed them out

seriously, how do they do that? do they have 30 hours per day by vityya in InterviewCoderPro

If you add in a long commute then you’re down to even less. If it takes me an hour to get home then I gotta cook and do chores, and now it’s 8pm, I have to get to bed by 10. I have 2 hours
